Umps and referees should be subset to the media questioning after every game. They need to answer for their incompetence in some way that is transparent to the fans. Instead of having commentators kick their boots and sound like idiots themselves, make them talk and explain their reasoning.

The umpire used his discretion and called him safe. The clown in Pittsburgh screwed it up. And by the way, the Tommy White call was wrong also.

That's a good point.

The only thing they can review is whether he’s out or safe? Isn’t part of the definition of that how the out is made?

That's what it sounded like, but I only caught them talking at the end just now. So strange. What the world?

They called the TCU guy out?

That wasn’t an explanation at all. Based on their description, ANY play where a runner is pushed off and tagged, once reviewed, would HAVE to be called out. That makes no damn sense.

I really wonder if they made the out call because the force that drove the runner off of third was induced by his own teammate.

so from now on, we just maul the runner off of the base and we win 100-0

What's worse is that the way reviews work these days, is all the decisions are made at the HQ, so guys sitting in an office still saw fit to call him out...unreal.

According to the rules, we should put Bear at first and let him sumo wrestle any runners.

And it’s not like the guy in the office has anything else going on. It’s the only college game happening.

I think that’s why the TCU coach didn’t go ballistic on the guy that announced the call. The on field umps had no say whatsoever in that decision. They actually got it right.
