Thought the same thing. Screw ULL but their coach seems like a pretty cool dude.

I live in Lafayette, and Deggs goes to my church. He’s a really good dude.

He’s got a great personal story as well, and he credits Coach Robe and UL with literally saving his life.

I read that yesterday also. What’s the story on that?

Had a real bad problem with alcohol addiction. Lost his job as an assistant at A&M in 2010, almost lost his family in the process too. Spent a year out of baseball cuz no one would hire him. Robe called him up before the 2012 season, hired him, helped and held him accountable as he was getting sober.

He’s the kind of guy who, given his past, UL is his final destination job. I think the only way he leaves Lafayette is if they fire him. That program means more to him than money does, and he is going to give it everything he’s got to make UL as good as he possibly can.

I was doing my internship in Lafayette with a bunch of UL alumni and boosters when Robe passed. Deggs was the first and only guy they called for the job.

Agreed. I’d love for a repeat of 2015 and see them in BR for a super regional.

Deggs is a great coach who puts program culture above everything. Perfect fit In Laffayette.
