Was Scott not a political animal himself who worked in opposition of Landry at times?

It’s his job to make the best hire he can. It’s not his job to predict the future.

I’d like to know some of the backgrounds of the posters raging here as if they’re all Rockerfellers who routinely make big time and always-perfect decisions

He botched the Will Wade situation. I know people will reply to this saying he only fired Wade to save football, but there is no evidence that the NCAA was going to punish both sports. Heck, the NCAA didn't even really ban Wade from basketball like everyone thought. And Matt McMahon certainly isn't the answer post-Wade.

A bald guy kept saying this, but I truly don't believe it. Not much was ever coming from that. I wish the AD had stood behind Wade like most would have.

No I definitely feel that way as well. I will add though that in the last 10-15 years we have produced the most high profile athletes of any school in the country with regards to pop culture. With that comes more intense media scrutiny. Seriously, what other school competes with this list:

OBJ
Tyrann Mathieu
Leonard Fournette
Joe Burrow
Ja’Marr Chase
Justin Jefferson
Jayden Daniels
Malik Nabers
Livvy Dunne
Paul Skenes
Dylan Crews
Angel Reese
Ben Simmons
Flau’Jae Johnson

I think what Governor Landry said was tacky. He had every right to check Scott’s authority but he made our state look bad.

He is gone. Now we can get our AD from McNeese. Maybe their football, mbb, wbb and baseball coaches with them Package deal President, AD, fbc, mens basketball coach (ncaa Wade will be back), womens basketball coach, baseball coach.

This is kinda random but does anyone else feel like the media frenzy and overwhelming attention our current situation has gotten would only happen at LSU?
Even when we went 15-0 LSU has always felt like more of a curiosity than a respected power. To the national media we are all a bunch of dumb crazy Cajuns, which is kind of validated by the current situation.

How motivated would you be to do your job if you were guaranteed to receive 100 million regardless of the result you produced. So long as you showed up every day and didn't bang a co-ed

He also screwed up in not going to get him back this year. The door was open and the governor was pushing hard for it. Scott and Tate said no, well, we see how that has ultimately worked out for those two.

He not only screwed it up when he fired, but doubled down on it this year.

Didn’t think about this but it’s absolutely true. LSU creates big time exposure, which creates big names which turn into bigger personalities, for better or worse. Easy targets for scrutinization and disdain.

BK definitely didn’t help the situation. Other fans nationally who usually rooted for LSU wanted us to fail solely to spite BK. Glad it’s over

Yeah current situation is adding jet fuel to that stereotype. In ‘19 I felt like a zoo animal or museum exhibit that people curiously gawked at but couldn’t help admiring the utter dominance.

You are naive if you think politics isn't involved in the Athletic Dept or anything else to do with the high end areas of the states flag ship university.
