The 2023 version of the LSU Tiger defense appears to be loaded.

There are the names that we all know, Harold Perkins and Maason Smith, but after watching the Spring Game last night, there are a couple names to add.

Omar Speights was in on a ton of plays. It seemed like he was everywhere.

LaTerrance Welch looked like a lock down corner and he might end up being 3rd string.

Ovie Oghoufu at the Jack position was around the QB a lot.

Add to those, names like Greg Penn, Denver Harris, Major Burns, Greg Brooks, Quency Wiggins, Mekhi Wingo, and Saivion Jones and you have the recipe for a dominant defense in 2023.

If the DBs do their job, this will be a DANGEROUS defense!!!!

We're not great at safety right now.

We need to find somebody who can stick at free safety and allow Brooks to move to nickel. He's a playmaker who can cause turnovers and you want to get him closer to the line of scrimmage so he can do more of that.

Burns is due for a breakout. He needs to have one. Ryan either needs to be a whole lot better or somebody has to beat him out.

Nickle and Safety are questions in my mind. We need some guys to step up. We have talent , but no nine has looked the part. Burns plays really well when he is healthy. We need a full season from him.

Hopefully this is because they're that good and not because Jayden 2023 will struggle with the same things Jayden 2022 did.

Me in the SEZ on the 2pt conversion vs. the gumpnecks. Had to put it in my waistband.

There’s a lot to like but also uncertainty. Let’s not fall into the trap of thinking just naming players makes them good. We have done this for years.

Preseason means nothing. Let's see if we can beat FSU to start the season.

Lets have some humility and not give Fla. State any locker room bulletin headlines.
