I think the piped-in music actually detracts from the enthusiasm of the crowd. Whether it's displacing TGBFT, or jumping in on top of a spontaneous crowd rendition of "GEAUX.....TIGERS!!!" or "LSU..LSU..LSU!!!", it is way more often a buzz kill than a buzz up. At a minimum it needs to be scaled WAY back.
If the AD gets ENOUGH complaints from people, they'll act. You'll actually have to contact them to get any meaningful action taken. Complaining on a message board will do nothing.
You're right though. Something needs to be done about that ultra garbage being spewed out over the TS public address system.

I'd KEEP the rap,(although it's not my thing) as a nod to the fact that's probably the preference of the players and recruits. I'd just find the BEST rap according to those who REALLY KNOW rap.
Agreement is not possible.
Except insomuch as we all agree what they play now is UNMITIGATED, MOOD-KILLING- shite.

Amen to that. You know what's up.

A lot of people wrote to them last year, and the response was "we're going to keep the recorded music."

I'd be thrilled if we stopped playing "Calling Baton Rouge."

If you point out to them that some of the rap songs they played had uncensored curse words in them, they'll be stopped with a quickness.

They played Wagon Wheel at the North Texas game, but cut it off before part about taking a nice long toke

I completely, 100% agree with this. I keep expecting to hear a little "Everybody Dance Now!"...
I mean shite, they may as well...
Another thing, I love loud music. But it's gotta sound clear and loud, not all distorted and gargled where your ear drum is about to bust. If they don't get quite loud enough and clear sounding, you need more amplification. There's a certain level speakers can go to before you start interfering with the quality and it just sounds like shite.

Need some Kenny Loggins and Michael Bolton up in there.

And in this case you can't please anybody.
They are just mailing it in.

PURPLE GOLD tiger in me would be 20 times better than the junk they play. we need a song that will make the entire stadium get on their feet and shake death valley. or something that will look intimidating as heck on tv. similar to the moment in Wisconsin when they all jump.
heck, I'd even be down with stealing crunk from the Saints at this point.

I miss my freshman year, when they never played piped in music. It was pretty much band 90% of the time.

If it weren't for those ads, you wouldn't have half the things you see around LSU.
Also, college athletics mimicking professional sports more and more. Not only the in game experience but the business office as well. You should probably just get used to it. Change is not a bad thing.

They have to get he rights from the artists to play those songs in front of 90,000 people. They can't just plug in their iPod and press play. Maybe that has something to do with their selection. Maybe they can't get approval for every single person in the stadiums favorite song.

They played "Sail" by Awolnaiton last night. Awesome song and one that I haven't heard at other schools. It was played before a kickoff. I would say they got it right with that song, IMO.

What makes the piped in music worse is the awful sound system. It's pathetic. Now if you asked me keep it out, I just want the band, but I'm a 40 year old white guy. Now the country crap, you can keep as well. I say Born on the Bayou should be played instead, but again 40WM. If anyone was at the Bama game last year the piped in music was Faulking Loud, especially Sweet Home Alabama. Before the band played on the field to start the game, they actually piped in a video of the band playing. When the band played it was underwhelming due to the piped in music . As my friend told a Bama fan, The million Dollar band? I want some change back!

I went to the Tennessee game last year and was surprised at how few ads they had. Maybe it's just because LSU's AD is independent, but it was nice.
