the term doesn't refer to how they look, it's how they play.

I absolutely hate the terms “deceptive speed” or “deceptively fast”. Those terms are only used for white players. I have never heard those terms used to describe a black player. If you’re fast, you’re fast. There’s nothing “deceptive” about it.

racist?? Seriously???

It must means a guy that doesn't have spectacular physical attributes or athletic skills, but still gets the job done.

Nothing racist about that at all.

The term you're looking for is "cerebral"

I disagree. Some players are fast but don't look like they're moving fast.

I'd say Jayden Daniels was like that. He looked like he was just on cruise control, but always pulled away from defenders.

You’ve depicted a goofy looking white guy.

Matt Mauck - dentist
Matt Flynn - looks like an autistic Matt Damon
Joe Burrow - wears SpongeBob SquarePants clothes

And then there’s 2011.

Goofy, nerdy white guys win championships, I’ll take it.

You’ve obviously not been around many welders.

He does not fit the welder stereotype whatsoever.

It’s a common term for white guys, unfortunately.

No, it's a common term for a hardworking player that doesn't have the elite traits of top players, but does the job needed for team success.

The other commenters gave you the more "white terms".

It’s actually stereotypical and racist tbh, but this group of people rarely pull the race card.
the "lunchpail", and, "student of the game", descriptions may be stereotyped, but white people are the ones who made them up, so how can they be racist?

Pretty sure it's more about work ethic not traits. Nuss has elite traits and potential, but this relates to his work ethic.

He is going to have a great season and I cannot wait to see it. And if he decides he needs to comeback for one more season then he is going to have a truly magical Senior Season.

Because the implication is that they work harder and smarter than black players?
