No, the P4 OOC requirement still stands

The playoff committee confirmed, two days ago, that there will be additional schedule strength metrics added to the committee’s evaluations. It’s no coincidence that this 9 game schedule gets announced just 48 hours after that announcement.

With the playoff likely expanding to 16 teams, 9-3 SEC teams will 100% be in most years, and will be given benefit of doubt over a 10-2 team that has only one top 25 win, like SMU last year

Can you imagine another league getting rid of their biggest game of the year? That’s what people are thinking will happen to the lsu Alabama game. I don’t see it. Before you argue that it’s not the biggest game of the year in the sec, look at the ratings. They are through the roof. ESPN is going to really want that annual match up

Same, I’m not buying it.

Additionally, in my LSU fandom lifetime and most of my generation, they would say it’s our biggest rival by more than a small margin.

Bama surely politicking but how good is Auburn going to be in this new era, Tennessee has rarely been good over the past 15 years. I guess they are back, but I’m not buying this unfair shite for Bama.

Bama
Ole Miss
And Either (A&M, Ark, or Miss St) in many years could be just as hard as Bama’s 3.

Speaking of the lsu Alabama game going away on an annual basis.

It just seems to me that the networks will have a loud voice. They gave 300 million per year to the SEC, and you think they will be ok that in some years, a Mississippi State vs Alabama or Vanderbilt vs Alabama game stands in while an lsu Bama match up isn’t played. You guys are taking crazy pills if they are going to be cool with it. They want the best content.

So how many if any, small or weak non-conference games can we have a year?

Two. Math isn't hard: 9 SEC, 1 major P4, 2 cupcakes (if we want).
