....we have had a limited QB play for the last 4 years. When we've lost in the past 4 years, this has been our achilles heel. JJ can't throw the ball down field accurately, so we were limited to the speed option and short WR screens. Bama ate that up.

We were screwed if we put our other limited QB in too! JL would have panicked in the face of Bama's rush and would have been a turnover machine. Just look at what Bama did to him in game one!

We beat Bama in Nov. because they game planned for JL. They weren't ready for the speed option, and we scratched out a win.

The ONLY way we beat Bama in the NC was for us to roll the dice and let JJ pass deep....so that was poor game planning, but the coaches can't be blamed for JJ's inept play.

All points that have yet to be discussed.

Do we have to keep talking about the same stuff over and over?

Or maybe he would have played like he did the 1st 8 games of the year. The problem is we will never know, just like we will never know what would have happened if they let JJ throw it down field. Thats what has pissed people of is we did not try anything different!

So we lost because we gameplanned for AJ McCarron and got.......AJ McCarron instead?

The problem is that it's only obvious to some of us. For some reason, people want to dump this one loss at LM's feet! If their reason is that we should have been recruiting another QB....great! If their reason is, we should have played JL...they're missing the obvious!

No...we got pass on 1st down 16 out of the first 18 first downs. Bama totally changed their offensive scheme/system for our D. They relied on AJ to throw them into the NC...and boy did he deliver. They exploited TM7's poor height differential almost flawlessly. TM was all over the tall WR they threw at him, but AJ kept throwing a high and out ball that only his guy could get. I haven't seen AJ execute like that ALL year, but they threw the dice...and damn if he didn't deliver.

Conservative offense vs. a defensive genius usually makes for a tough game.

Most fans don't want to admit that.

So, our defense lost the game. Now I've got it.

Point is, there should have either been more QB development, or a game plan to suit their abilities. I am a supporter of CLM, but he did not have the team, the proper game plan, nor the staff prepared for the NCG. Plain and simple, no excuses.

But we did have a highly touted qb on the bench that only got decent reps in one game this year because Les Miles had to keep playing the quarterback that came back from suspension.

because Bama was the better team that day. If our Defense didn't hold as long as they did the final score would have been 45-0.

disagree. we needed to neutralize their pass rush with the type of plays that burn defenses for their super aggresiveness. we either didn't call those plays or our execution was so poor it didn't matter. jj, w/o question, looked confused and clueless. his recent statements are typical of his banter after he played poorly; BLAME SOMEONE ELSE. go back and review his comments and you will agree with me because it happened 100% of the time following a loss. i'm not blaming the loss on him though. our OL looked overwhelmed and our coaches did too.

No, the loss had nothing to do with the defensive game plan.

This team and coaches did not show up for whatever reason. The coaches went brain dead ... the players had no way to answer without game plan adjustment.

Very, very obvious and simple ... The Buck stops with CLM and the coaching staff.

Great point and one reason why I think quite a few posters don't know the game. The o-line was horrible. In 8 quarters we didn't accomplish much against Bama. Of the 3 FG's only one was due to our offense driving and that was aided by a blown coverage by Bama.

I personally think we should have attacked more downfield than the flats but it may not have made a difference. Also I am still at a loss for words that we never tried JL to spark the offense. That is the one thing that bothers me the most.

We sucked in the previous games. We dropped from 13th in offense to 26th in two games and the games were w. kentucky and ole miss. The SEC champ. game was over until our defense scored a TD to give a spark of life to the team.No first downs or completed passes in the first half of the game and this was from the number 1 team in the country.Yet we let this same QB start and finish the BCSNC game without trying to change to the 5th year senior who by the way lead us through the first 8 games undefeated and winning by double figures against WV and THE DUCKS.Piss poor coaching by the head coach caused the defeat not the players.
