i dont see why he should get more than 5-6 touches a game myself

The guy gets 7 ypc and the way our other backs are rushing shep would get the ball until they stop him.

Now I know Shep has added much needed to our running game but he is young and light and with no blocking help all more touches will do is possibly get him hurt right now.

Even though I think this is remarkably silly since Shep is not going to bulk up to 230 anytime soon, I'll play along. If we're afraid he's made of sugar and will get hurt, why on earth would we play him at all this season? Is there something he can do on the field where there is not a chance of him getting hit and murdered?

They burned his shirt in game #2. He's averaging about 7 YPC on a team that has no clue how to run the ball at this point. This really isn't tough... NOT giving him the ball means DECIDING to underutilize the most effective offensive weapon we've seen we have AFTER burning his shirt.

No, i like 7 yrds a carry avg. Those plays seem to work but i prefer playaction hitting Lafell or toliver in the post that goes for 6. The problem isnt how many touches Shep gets. He's doing fine with what he gets. Im surprised nobody on here thinks Holliday deserves more carries. I dont think specialty guys deserve more than 5-7 touches a game.. if you rely on that your in trouble..But i guess thats why we rant

some of you are fools

people aren't wanting Shep to get touches just for the sake of him getting touches.

they want him to get touches because, to date, he has shown he can do more than anyone else running the ball.

The difference is that Holiday has never shown the ability to consistiently pick up yards out of ther backfield. Holiday is a gimmick back...Shep isn't.

LSU runs for thirty f'n yards vs MSU, LSU is in trouble relying on it's ineffective non-specialty guys to carry the ball

Correct. This isn't like in year's past when fans would bitch that something great would happen if their favorite guy would get more touches. We currently SEE that when Shep gets the rock, he picks up yards. And on a team that can;t buy running yardage, that's fairly useful.

"Coach, Chad Jones played a hell of a game and was all over the field making plays in a variety of ways...is it safe to assume we'll be seeing less of him on the field in the coming weeks?"

les already responded this today supposedly

said there weren't enough touches for shep, and that we had to establish the running game inside

This is bull

He said they are loading up the box on Shep

Well duh? let the man chunk it down field

We have to start getting aggressive with the football... I understand ball security, but we are about to play teams that can score a lot of points

I agree geauxtigerTM.

I dont believe holliday needs more than 4-5 touches himself. My beef is really on the philosophy of what we are doing on offense. If we are a spread team, when did we change our philosophy. If were a power team why dont we stick with it. Something has to give. As a former high school coach i know if i had Brock Berlin i wouldnt run the wing-t.

So why are we recruiting players that fit different styles is all im saying. I love shep, and holliday, the represent LSU well. But at this time, they dont fit into what i See LSU wants to become. With that said, please tell me why we have a commit from Zach Lee and Wet our pants to get Hilliard and now hill..If we want spread we dont want these guys. Makes no sense to me

Good Question. Shep needs to get touches because next year when he is in the 2nd year retirement home the fans will want to push him aside for the new flashy Freshman thing and we shall be hearing why does Les not play his talented Freshmenn. Why is Shep in there so much
