I don't think it's going to be an issue though because it is gradually going to become a bigger part of the offense. We should get up to around 15-20 legitimate (not including bubble screens and forward laterals which puff up the passing stats), beyond the line of scrimmage, passes a game.

If our coaching staff is smart we should attempt to grow our confidence in our passing game over the next few weeks while we have weak opponents. Increase the amount of passes. Allow Harris to make decisions and earn the confidence of the coaching staff to have more responsibility in our passing game. Also grow the confidence of our WR corps.
We already know we can run the ball. That has been a constant in Les' tenure. That will never change while he is here.
As we move deeper into the latter part of our schedule, we are going to need to be able to throw the ball to keep people off balance and guessing to be successful - especially against Ole Miss and Bama.
Lastly, our playcalling is and has not been friendly to our QB's. Our offensive plan is always the same - We run the ball 2 times, then we make our QB try to bail us out in 3rd and long situations. That is not how you bring along a young QB and build his confidence in his abilities and the system he is playing in.
Show confidence in your QB and cut him lose for the next few weeks. If we just run the ball against these weak opponents, and stick to 14 passes a game, then we are missing an opportunity to expand our offense for later and allow our offense to reach their full potential - Making us unstoppable.

What are you talking about?? Predictable?? We weren't predictable at all in the auburn game not even close! Also some team will take the run away at some point so we will have to pass the ball. Won't be any throwing it 40 times a game but we may very well see a 300 plus game or a few of them. It will be big gains so no LSU won't throw the ball 30 plus times. If we need to pass we will and if Cam wants to mix run pass he will. I think we see more 250 yard run and 250 yard pass games or close than anything else but if we need to tip it one way or the other to win I promise you we can and will.

411 yards a game loses you a couple games capeche

well that's one of the problems right there. If you wait until you have to pass to start passing, it's to late. You're not going to be successful if you haven't already worked on it in live game situations. It takes time to develop a passing game. You have to work on getting the timing down and get the QB use to throwing and the recievers use to running routes and catching in live game situations long before it's time that "you have to"
Okay, coach. You are right. If you don't mind, I'm just going to enjoy winning while you work that stuff out.

Now is the time to hone the passing game, before Bama. Balance will be a must in Tuscaloosa.

That's one of the things I really liked about the Auburn game. We departed from our past recent history and become much more unpredictable in our pass game. HOw ever minimal it was, it still wasn't predicated on down and distance. That along with our suddenly much more diverse run game really changed my view of what Miles/Cam can do (and it looks like will do)with this offense.

At some point this year we will need our passing game. We have the best WR tandem in the sec with Dural and Malachi. Fournette won't keep averaging 200 yards a game... I mean, at least I think he won't haha never know with that animal.

The passing game will open if and when we need it. If we need it, it means Leonard can't run.

I know enough about football to enjoy it without scoring a 1000 points !

How come we don't say 'open down'?

In part that's why we've lost 5 games in 5 years in the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter
Didn't the defense allow the other teams offense to drive for the winning score in those games?
The defense cant make a stop when the offense gave LSU the lead or at lease a tied game, but we loss those games because of the offense.

We got some clueless fans running around the Rant.

What's wrong is what you think makes for a team that can be considered a good passing team. What is correct is that LSU must be effective at passing.
They are so good at rushing the ball that they only need to throw the ball when a good team like Bama, who is physically capable of stopping them from running the ball goes into 9 men in the box to do it. AL has done this in previous years.
LSU has been effective running the ball with 8 men in the box because our OL has managed to get our RB to the second level. But this year if they go into a 9 man line on 1st or 2nd down LSU can and will make them pay.
If you have not noticed it LSU has 3-4 WR on the field about 1/2 the time. They have some passing plays into which they can check. Actual I think now they are calling pass plays and having Harris check into running plays.
