not with the receiving player. Just admit you're wrong and move on.

What about the post from the scorer in the box
quote:
I was working this game as the scorer, and talked with the replay official. Yes, they missed the illegal block, but that can't be corrected by review. Once the call was made (or not made) on the field, the only things for review were: did LSU touch the ball before it went 10 yards (yes), and who recovered (UNC). But it should have been flagged for the contact by UNC. No one even mentioned the formation, I think that was far too close to call.

It is nearly impossible to tell who is the idiot, the dipshit, stupid, douche, dumb, boomed, and nitwit in this thread.
Very frustrating.

So you guys are telling me that there was no contact made between players prior to the ball crossing 10 yards in that video, correct?
Whether they are or they are not, it is not a relevant question. The player receiving the ball is beyond ten yards. What occurs in the boundary or whatever it is called is irrelevant under those circumstances.

Who is "Atlanta Blue" and why should I believe him?

The scorer in the box who talked to the replay official, who was posting on a referee board and could care less about UNC or LSU.. seems pretty unbiased... and also seems pretty straight forward for them on that board..
But was it an illegal formation??.. they are more concerned about that since the other is so obvious

This is what I hate about the instant replay rules. It half-asses what happened and since UNC blocked LSU before the 10 yards, it should have ruled for the ball to go to LSU.

New onside kick method:
1.) Kick the ball approximately 5 yards
2.) Nail anyone who is remotely close to the ball as soon as you can.
3.) Hope that it makes contact with the opposing team first, and then you get to keep it.
*Note: this will probably need a replay every time because there's sure to be bodies flying.
Heck, this should bring the onside kick's odds up to nearly 50% probability.
To bad it's ILLEGAL!

To be fair, I could go on that board and pretend to be Rogers Redding. (Is that the right name?)
As for the illegal formation, that was extremely close. That's one of those calls that could have gone either way. I could see how they would have thrown a flag for that.

Yeah, a guy with that many posts on an obscure forum for refs has all the reason in the world to lie.
There's very little reason to doubt him.

Doubt that dude made over 1100 posts in 3 years on a site called restripes.com just for the chance to slam UNC or prop up LSU

That's a great idea. I look forward to following that.

Go read his post history. He has been the official scorer for nearly every event in the GA Dome...referencing games for college and pro teams in multiple sports.

and for what reason are we supposed to think your opinion is more informed than his?

*Sigh...*
How about this? If it was an illegal block (and why would it be called a block?), then it occurs on nearly every onside kick attempt where the both teams are expecting the kick.

Could you please give us the definition of a "block"?
TIA

The Play would then be ruled that the reciever was blocked into the ball. LSU Ball at the spot of the recovery.
