The one thing I haven’t seen anyone mention, roster limits

The roster limits now being 34, in my opinion, is a major factor in all of this. With the expanded roster, you could afford to miss on on few guys and also carry a few guys you weren’t sure on that you recruited. You can’t with the smaller roster.

34 guys should be enough to get the job done at LSU

No doubt. No debating that. But, it’s def a factor for some teams, especially LSU this year. You could’ve kept the guys you had to send off with a bigger roster. At least the guys you “felt” you had to send off for transfers. That was a major thing prior to this year. You could afford to carry dead weight.

Yes, but with 50 players, you could park a bunch of guys on your roster, which would hide your evaluation deficiencies.

The more limited roster means you need to be better evaluators. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

We’re LSU, we should have 34 absolute studs year in and year out.

Honestly with schools paying players, LSU isn’t the top dog it use to be, don’t get me wrong it’s still the elite but there more parity.

We’ve won 2 of that past through (I guess you can say 2 of the last 4 now). This isn’t the first year paying players. You’re right in more parity but it’s just because more schools care. In Skips day no one really cared that much to invest heavily. But one bad year doesn’t change that we still have more recent championships than anyone.

Brother I get it, there is more parity. But we’ve won 2 CWS titles in the era of paying players. In the last 20 years we’ve objectively done better in the era of paying players. So maybe we just had a bad year this year and we are absolutely still the gold standard.

As far as new rationalizations go, this is a shitty one. All teams follow the same rules. If we didn’t adapt, that’s solely on the coaching staff.

The rule change wasn’t just thrown at them.

roster limits were....35 (27 scholarship players) before COVID. And we only had 11.7 scholarships. Now we have 34 scholarship players and 34 scholarships. No, roster limits are not the problem

Yall realize that just because every team had to cut their roster it doesn't nullify the point in which the smaller roster size may have been a *greater* issue for *LSU* in *2026* it's not mutually exclusive nor an "excuse," nor a reason that proves LSU isn't a premier program. (Which is absolute horseshite 2/3) Perspective helps people.

There was an exemption allowed this year letting teams retain players over the 34 limit that could have been adversely affected by the roster cut. Essentially allowing teams to go way over 34. LSU told Jay not to go over 40. Jay decided to go with the current 38, which includes Aase who will likely redshirt.
Roster size isn't the issue this year. Jay sacrificed defense to bring in some power bats. The bats aren't producing which is leaving us with a team that lacks defense and offense. Add to it, a new rotation and things aren't going our way.
There is still time for this team to be good but we are digging a hole right now.

Winning titles and losing as many players as they have to the draft, while the portal timing absolutely played a part with the construction of this roster. Johnson couldn’t money grab because LSU didn’t put up last season and he didn’t have the time to chase players while he chased another title.
This is why the portal window needs to be once in December. That’s it.

Move Braun to RF , move Serna to first, Arrambide Dh
Pearson stays at 3rd

Portal:
Need an experienced defensive catcher #1 priority
LF
CF
SS
2ND

ALL PITCHERS WELCOME

I do not see any replacements on this year's team out side of Patrick, Hardin (outfield)

Dear coaches don't not go get playes from high point or gcu or othe small programs. They kill crappy pitching. The only bats you portaled in were White from Ncst and berry from Arizona.
The quality of SEC pitching is not in the same class

MLB lock out might get Curiel ,Brown or Milam back??? Prayers to Rob Manfred to frick this up
