Nope. That illustrious honor still belongs to Rosie Barr. Besides, I kept picturing him singing the anthem as Eddie on Boardwalk Empire while watching Nucky hump some bimbo over the breakfast table. Now THAT was pretty funny.
Carl Lewis ftw

It sounds like you're not entirely pleased with your performance.
I don't think I've ever been entirely pleased with a performance in my whole life. But I will tell you this: I had a great time. It was an honor for me to be there, to see the governor, to be with (New Orleans Mayor) Mitch (Landrieu) who I've known since he was a young man. The mayor of this great city, how he's rebuilding this great city and building it back to the glory that it always had. These wonderful things. That was exciting. To hear that LSU band come on the field. Boy, your heart starts to rush and pound.
Damn he even admitted he had a bad game.

I'm a choir teacher at a catholic school, and I teach with a nun who taught with him when she lived in NOLA. She said she hadn't seen him in 30 years and was quite surprised to see him on TV. She was telling me all about him. I thought it was pretty cool stuff.
Anyways, as someone who knows a bit about music (MM, 2004 from LSU) I can say that it was a poor but heroic performance. This fella obviously had a great voice once but now he is just past his prime. Notes he once could sing are no longer secure. It happens to most opera type voices when they are pushing 70. He should never have been asked to do it and shouldn't have accepted the invitation to do it.
