I have to admit that I wanted Herman over Orgeron originally (never wanted Jimbo even if he does have a better resume as he is just way over rated) but am now very glad that we wound with Orgeron out of the three.

I still blame Alieva for fricking up the hiring process by focusing so much on Jimbo and Herman when Fleck was available also. But in the end he seemed to get it right.

I can't tell you what any LSU coach brought to the bowl.... I can tell you what the coaches and the team walked away with... a big W. That's what!

Gotta give credit to O if you are gonna assign blame should the tide turn.

+1. Just the fact we wasted so much time chasing after Herman and especially Jimbo is what gets me.

I am against the hire because the AD didn't conduct a search to bring the best to LSU. That being said, I think O does fine the next two years because he has great coordinators.

My biggest issue with O is that he will have to replace one or both coordinators every few years (hopefully because they're successful) and it will be difficult to hit homerun hires every time. That and the continuity of the ever changing staff will be an issue.

Against the hire and against O are two different things. The fact that there was no due diligence done in three months is disgraceful. That doesn't mean I don't think O can't be a good HC or want him to fail.
This is the general consensus amongst adult LSU Fans/Alums that support the program with either their $$$$$$ or attendance at all home games............

They played great and he did a great job having them ready. But it was one game against a team that lost to Kentucky in their previous game. His record against Bama, UF and Auburn is what he is going to be judged on.

...and if LSU would've lost it would have been Orgerons fault. But no credit for the win. You're trying to have your cake and eat it too. That's not how this works.

so he's responsible for the wins but not the losses? He's responsible for the offense he doesn't have a role in? He's responsible for the defense he doesn't have a role in?

it's just the nature of being a head coach. No credit for the successes but blame for the f ups. I'm sure O knew what he was getting into when he took the job.

I agree with that, even though in the end we wound up with probably the best result, the search could have been conducted in a more professional manner.,

it's just the nature of coaching. Happens to the best but the best can deal with it. We will see. Was Miles downfall,. Seems O has made all the right choices so far. Seems to have a knack for it which, along with recruiting and motivating, are the most important aspects of being a head coach.

I'll eat crow for wanting Herman at one time, but unlike a lot of other people on here, don't have to eat crow for wanting Fisher though as I never once wanted him over Orgeron.

But really the fault in all this process has to be put squarely at the feet of Allieva as he is the one who pushed the most for Jimbo and Herman, while never giving serious consideration to Fleck. Plus it seemed he had to be pushed into hiring Orgeron.

By that logic he's gets no credit for either wins or losses then

I'm fine with that. He can get credit for supplying the team with elite talent.
