I enjoy your BCS commentary LSUMatt, because you're one of the only people besides myself that actually understands and can explain thoroughly how the BCS actually works, but Brad Edwards himself just said that it will get very interesting if there is an undefeated Iowa team vs a 1-loss USC or 1-loss SEC champion. As it should be.

Wow, someone really likes himself.

I'm positive that there are others here who also understand and can explain how the BCS "actually works."

Otis2, don't we need to check with JPLSU1981 to get approval of any points made in our posts?

Only then can we hope or be optimistic...

SEC champ would certainly have a compelling argument seeing as though the SEC has won 4 of the last 6 titles and in two of those games

The bad news is they lost to a Washington team that may finish with a losing record. That could weight them down like an anchor in the computers.

Washington aint bad

I realize that Wash beat USC, But LSU beating them will not help at all if Wsh finishes bad.

Good news/bad news

LSU is sitting pretty at #9. All they have to do is win football games, and they will be fine. Of course, they won't jump any of the undefeated teams, but they will remain near the top of the 1 loss pack if they can stay at 1 loss.

Washington probably plays the toughest schedule in the country. If they finish 6-6, it will be just as good as beating most 8-4 teams.

But that isn't the point really. LSU's SEC schedule is hard enough. They just needed an OOC schedule that isn't awful. Washington and ULL should finish respectable enough.

What is it about this topic that makes everyone think they are the only ones who can understand it. It is truely amazing. Perhaps, just maybe, there are a few beyond you that can understand, analyze and interpret the models and projections.

No wait, not possible... that is reserved for just one or two. Good grief (and not directed at you matt as you do atleast acknowledge other people have taken high school algebra)

you have SC with one loss in that scenario..........SC will be the underdog when they play the ducks. So that means SC has atleast 2 losses if there are no upsets.

Matt,
Great work!
Here's a question that I think you may have answered it a little.
If FL or Bama goes undefeated and Iowa does as well, will Texas be left bitching in 3rd place.

Their schedule will make them pay. Correct?

USC is ranked higher in the Coaches poll so I made them the favoritr by default. I didn't analyze all 1200 remaining games and attempt to deduce who will be the Vegas favorite.

Iowa could be slightly ahead of Texas in the computers, but should be easily ahead in the human polls and BCS. No way undefeated Texas gets left out.

That is fine but you the "guru" should know that with Oregon ranked 11th and SC having lost 5 in a row in the state of Oregon should know the home team will be a favorite. You also don't need to analyze all 1200 when a select few will determine the top teams' fate.

Are you for real? Yeah, I am gonna write a computer algorithm that requires me to go through and determine who is gonna be the Vegas favorite as opposed to using an automatic decision. The point of the exercise was to see how Iowa would compare to one loss SEC teams and that is what I did.

Besides I wouldn't be at all surprised if USC is favored at Oregon.

I know Boise and Cincy are undefeated, but look at those schedules... Light house for the blind, Basket weaving State, come on man?

Make them play UGA, UF, Wash, heck I think ULL would give either of them a run for their money. UGA & UF beat both of them handily.

This is exactly why we need a playoff system, because if decided on the field and not by some biased reporters or voters, You'd see an all SEC final 4 more times than not...unless they put us all in the same bracket which would likely happen.

How can USC be ahead of us, please tell me? Makes no sense at all, but that being said.

I'm glad to be 5-1 right now. I said if we go 2-1 in our UGA, UF, AU stretch that'd be a miracle and put us in shape to upset Alabama and have a shot, but unless our offense improves, we're toast against BAMA, Ark, and maybe Ole Miss too.

I still believe. They've all got to play us and so we have a chance.

Their wins against Ohio State, Cal, and ND are arguably better than anyone LSU has beaten.

Well maybe you shouldn't say anything regarding upsets then. That's all I am saying. I expect you to think SC over Oregon is an automatic decision. LOL.......Surprised isn't even in the equation regarding them being favored. It won't be a surprise to anyone who knows pac ten football. I will give you this........you did a pretty good job with your info but I just hope you and the rest of the world continue to talk about a one loss SC team.

Also, to all my fellow LSU fans......you shouldn't be surprised that SC is above us. Who have we really beaten? I don't care that we beat UDUB and they lost to them. Start thinking outside the box and realize there is good football being played in other parts of the country besides SEC territory.

Have they ever added the stipulation that the teams that meet for the championship game must be conference champions?

LSU Beat Washington.
USC Loss to Washington. >>

So LSU did not desrve the BCS NC in 2007? Two other teams beat them.

Absolutely not. But voters don't like teams that don't win their conference. Since 2004, the human polls have been 2/3 of the BCS, so it would take a really, really good team to make it without winning their conference.

Michigan almost did it 2006
