People talked so much about Brennan’s accuracy, but we all saw yesterday what happens when the protection isn’t there.
Yep, it's all about pass protecting and we can't do it. That's because LSU doesn't recruit OL's that come from high schools that throw the ball a lot and already know how to do it.

It's just a continuation of the Miles/Grimes "Square Peg-Round Hole" OL recruiting philosophy. (Just like the Miles SPRH QB recruiting philosophy)

Wanna have a great passing offense, then recruit OL's that already have experience doing that in HS.

I want to see the offense in a real game before I make any judgment. I will say I like what they are trying to do with spreading the field and not being so predictable. You know I really don’t know what type of offense he ran or how successful Ensminger was back when he was coordinator. What I do know is he’s been around the game a very long time and has a lot of football knowledge. And hell he may have had opportunities to become a coordinator since his last stint but maybe he was content with just being a position coach. It’s possible he wasn’t offered a coordinator job at other places because they knew he would turn it down. Some people don’t want to deal with the stress that comes with the job. Will he be an upgrade from last year? I damn sure hope so. Nothing against Canada and his offense but all of the motions confused our players more than the defense, especially early in the season.

Way too much overreaction over a spring game. Ensminger has been around a long time and has probably forgot more than some of these young coaches know. Give the man a chance. Let him coach one REAL game as coordinator before we judge him.

how do you know he has a lot of football knowlegde? if he were so knowledgeable why had he spent more time coaching highschool football in the last 20 years than being a full time OC?

yeah thats really a good sign.

so dont put stock in the bad things that happened so far but you like the positive things?

we are one of the best 15 programs of all time. we shouldnt be hiring career position coaches as 2 of our 3 lost important coaches at out program.
both of these coaches a proven failures at the coaching position they are at.

He played college football and spent a little time in the pros. He only spent a couple years in the high school ranks and was OC at a few D1 colleges for about 10 years total so your statement is false. I mean surely he picked up a couple of things along the way. What are the “bad things” that have happened so far that you’re talking about?

bullshite

sine 1998 he has been a fulltime oc 2 times for a total of 3 years.
since 1998 he had been a HS coach 3 times for a total of 5 years

in the last 20 years he has spent more time coaching highschool football than being a fulltime oc.

what bad things?

did you watch the UF and Florida games in 2016?

maybe you should actually do some fact finding before saying someone's post is false.

E can get it done if he can get a qb ready. He has been a qb and been around college football for a long time. He knows offense but can he scheme a game plan and make calls on the fly? Will O handcuff him ? He also went conservative in some big games when he was Interim OC. May have been O but That’s what I’m afraid of.

Question: Does anyone know (w/out googling) who UGA’s OC is? I didn’t think so. But they did ok. My point is that we seem to think they key to LSU football is hiring a well-known OC. The well-known guys normslly become HC’s.

Oh, I get it, you are stupid.

The players on that offense masked how mediocre that OC was. Chubb and Michel are maybe one step lower than Fournette and Guice, and both were 100% healthy the entire season. Jake Fromm was pretty much considered a top 4 QB coming out in 2017, and I considered him the 2nd best QB from that class (best being Russell Wilson 2.0). Their third string RB was a 5 star true freshman, and produced immediately.

On that offense alone just from off the top of my head
Three 5 star RBs (two seniors both with previous 1000+ yard seasons), the 4th ranked QB recruit, the #1 ranked 5 star TE, and two #1 ranked 5 star athletes, from previous classes. Oh yeah, they also had Calvin Ridley's brother.

Four of their top 6 pass catchers we're 5 stars, the others were Calvin Ridley's brother, and a former top ranked JUCO who was a senior.

Their top 3 RBs were 5 stars including two very accomplished seniors. Their fourth string RB was a top 5 RB from his class as well.

Top 5 QB, 5 star TE, and I bet their OL was loaded.

The dude put the offense on auto as the players took care of everything. QB ran a pretty game manager type offense, but with so much talent everywhere, and him already being as good as he was, their offense did really well.

No LSU needed a culture change and decided not to go with that. There were OCs aplenty at the FBS ranks, as well as HCs at the FCS ranks, that they could have gone after.

Ed and Alleva, and all the other fools up top would rather play it safe and let you guys continue to eat up 8-9 win seasons.

I have no axe to grind with Ensminger but I do remember the 2016 Alabama game when he was the interim OC. We got shut out. Last year we lost by 2 TDs.

I haven't seen the spring game but what I've read doesn't make me look forward to seeing actual games, and I'm at every game.

I'm tired of this "just wait" excuse. This isn't directed at you but it's not like we're some johhny come lately program.

I'm tired of these empty promises from O. He says last year, "we'll be in the playoffs....." and now it's "be patient."

It's crazy. It's from one extreme to the other.

That’s partially because we’re simultaneously paying a better OC not to coach here this year because of O’s fragile ego.

If ensminger s offense lights the world on Fire I will be absolutely fricking thrilled. However, if his philosophy is to simply line up and out physical everyone like Ao said during the spring game, we will light up the lesser schools but Bama, Georgia, Auburn, and Miami will eat out lunch

This is what it sounded like O wants to do based on his interview prior to the spring game

Lol at O having some sort of coherent offensive philosophy.
