IMO.. we need to stop stressing about the OC situation. No, Ensminger isn't a great name that has put up lots of points but, he will be ok. if you remember right, Greg Studrawa, who was a Coach on the '11 team was elevated to OC by Les and he didn't do a bad job. I would have never thought Stud could do a decent job at OC.
I never thought Canada was that big a deal. Yeah, there was a ton of movement, but what did it accomplish? There was way too much emphasis put on "Matt Canada's offense."
My 2 biggest concerns for next year is OL and RB. Someone may say, "You aren't concerned about QB?" Some.. but, as long as the OC plays to the strengths of the QB and we can block... the offense will be ok.

Because I don't think you have to re-invent the wheel to score points. Yes, they need to spread the field and it looks like he's doing that. Ensminger has a lot of experience... not at OC but, he will figure it out. If Greg Studrawa can do it, Ensminger can do it

Oh god we are already moving the goal post to Studrawa level? In April?

Remember that we were getting THE BEST COORDINATORS IN THE COUNTRY because we weren’t paying top money for a HC

The man has been either playing the game of football or coaching the game for longer than the majority of posters on this site have been alive. Most posters won’t even give him a chance because he’s not who they wanted.

Based on what I saw yesterday, we are going to need a QB with some mobility. People talked so much about Brennan’s accuracy, but we all saw yesterday what happens when the protection isn’t there.

Wow, Never in my life did I think that LSU would be thought of as a stepping stone mid-major where both head coaches and OCs can figure things out.

Our program has been destroyed by the low I.Q. portion of our fan base.

Meh, more like he hasn’t been an OC in a decade or so, and he publicly stated that he didn’t want the job.

Remember both OTs were out and we have Damian Lewis and a couple of young guys. The OL will be fine. On the RB situation when Curry gets here in the summer and fall camp starts Curry, Provens, Edwards-Helliar(spelling), and Brossett will be enough..

Way too much overreaction over a spring game. Ensminger has been around a long time and has probably forgot more than some of these young coaches know. Give the man a chance. Let him coach one REAL game as coordinator before we judge him.

I watched the 2016 Bama game. How about you?

I don’t care if the guy is fricking 100 years old and has been in football since he was 1, he’s not an OC.

well he sucked against any defense with a pulse in 2016. Before that he was fired everywhere he was an OC. He’s gonna be great

That combined with the fact that he's not really regarded as a good OC is even more discouraging.

First off, LSU should not hav a guy at OC who “will figure it out”. It’s a well enough established program that the OC should have it already figured out before he gets the job.

Regarding Studrawa, I may be misremembering but was he made OC because the real coordinator had to step down after a cancer diagnosis?

And how long did Stud remain OC? Not very long for someone who you say figured it out.

Question: Does anyone know (w/out googling) who UGA’s OC is? I didn’t think so. But they did ok. My point is that we seem to think they key to LSU football is hiring a well-known OC. The well-known guys normslly become HC’s.

How has any of our offensive coordinator’s faired against Bama the past 7 or so years? Bama game had more to do with them simply being bigger and stronger upfront than us. Ensminger was moved to coordinator during the season and had to take the Miles/Cameron playbook and do the best job he could. He will have a full offseason this year to implement his ideas. Hell he may not be the man for the job, but unlike you I will wait until a real game before I make judgement.

2 years ago, in TS, LSU played Bama tougher than anyone that season. And Ensminger was OC.
