what happened to us? i think maybe the worst thing that could've happened: we won. two titles and a decade or so of being good to great has made us completely forget what it felt like to outright suck for almost a decade.

why should we remember what it was like to be a team devoid of talent when we are a team stock full of talent?

quote:

now we're like video gamers who hit reset on madden when the CPU wrecks our pet player's statistics. we complain because a blanton's is served to us in a rocks glass instead of a snifter. and we're positive that it's gonna be served to us in a dixie cup the next game and then a toilet bowl the game after that

that is because the "miles gameplan" fails. ever since we lost Qbs developed by Jimbo (and even then we had to have a miracle letting a 2-loss team play for a title), we haven't won a title. we are routinely beaten by bama (either domination or late-game losses similar to last night) the past 4-5 years

the problem is that we know it's coming. we will pull a lucky rabbit out of a hat like last night, but we will do the same and lose against bama

You think Bama looks great this year? Or you just saying this because Saban is your favorite coach?

It's aggravating to see so many here with absolute zero perspective of the college football landscape. Arkansas lost to Toledo. Auburn was some fluky bull shite away from losing to Jacksonville state. Yet lsu battles on the road against an in conference ranked opponent and wins and the fans are melting.

You don't see how ridiculous that is?

One of the only voices of reason and sanity on this board.

It almost cost us the game in the 4th quarter. Too predictable.

My issue is with those that are in bridge jump mode

i'm not in "bridge jump" mode but people are justified in tehir worries, based in our history

fans thought this year would finally be different. after last night, they are worried it's not

fans also can easily recall multiple games lost by similar gameplans...and it is most amplified with many of those references being bama

has bama come back to win against LSU after we eased up and played a soft, pussy gameplan in the 2nd half? has that happened the past 4 years at all?

It was a quality win but when a team goes from totally dominating to almost losing the game, questions will be asked and concerns will be identified. Some of them are worth taking notice.

Asking questions and raising concerns is one thing. Abandoning all perspective and reason and going full retard is another. After close wins, this board tends to do the latter.

You have to have not been paying attention if you think lsu's gameplan was the same as it has been.
Both sides of the ball were different.
Way more blitz calls on defense.

Offense got the tight end involved early, took some deep shots. Ran multiple different runs and not just the toss dive.

The offense did tighten up midway through the third on and that was disappointing but the overall gameplan was definitely different.

Not to mention three touchdowns and 200 yards being called back from penalties.

i guess this is going to be the new meme, because sub-100 yards passing seems just like our old offense

60 yard touchdown to dupre called back

You really think that every game will be sub-100 passing?

no, but i don't think MSU has that good of a defense and we just saw one already

unless we change our gameplan, sub-150 games are going to be the norm for any game against a decent team

and it's not big passes that we need. we need an intermediate passing game. big passing plays are going to be there with our WRs and running game. big passing doesn't keep drives alive, which is what miles' preferred offense needs (esp in games like last night, when we got big yards on the ground but were mediocre at converting that into 1st downs)

Fully agree. I was excited to see us go to desean early. Wish we would do that more often.

Every season a regular part of folks' narrative is:

"Alabama will be down this year!"

"They're breaking in a new quarterback!"

"They've lost a lot of people!"

And every season Alabama contends for the national championship and they've beaten us four straight times.

Face it, they're a well-coached team.
