I would say Matt Flynn. Nobody thought he would lead LSU to the MNC game, and he did. Nobody thought he would make a roster in the NFL, and he did ( by beating Bhrom ( a 1st rounder) for the 2nd string).

If you actually watched the games this year, he was missed really much.

Herb Tyler. One of the most important players in LSU history. If not for him, how good would we have been in the 90s? As great as Faulk was, I think he was more replaceable with Kendall Cleveland, Mealey, ect.

No one behind Tyler was ready to be a starting QB for LSU. Without Tyler we might not have been able to attract Saban.

Wasn't Lafell a 3 star coming out of HS? He may end up a first round pick.

This is precisely why I dont think he was "underrated" because everybody loved and appreciated the guy. No he wasnt as celebrated as Kevin Faulk but noone in their right minds can say the guy was not one of the key guys who started the turn for the better in LSU football. Ever since him the quality of QB's, talentwise, has increased significantly.

My choice for most underrated:

That fullback from West Monroe who blocked for Rondell Meadley, Kevin Faulk and Cecil Collins. I cant remember his name for the life of me but he was a beast.

Man, I'd forgotten about Touchdown Tommy Banks! He was a beast. He was highly recruited, though, so I'm not sure he fits the "underrated" category.

Good choice. I didn't think he'd be a first rate player, but he sure proved me wrong.

But the mere fact that you forgot about him and I couldnt remember his name proves my point that he was highly underrated. The guy is like a forgotten man in LSU lore.

Definitely not underrated since half of the fans want to nominate him for canonization.
