Haulcy is a lot of fun to watch. If you watch Haulcy every snap you will realize how impactful he is for the Corners. He allows Woodward and Delane to jump routes because they know hes going to take away the deep crossers. Reminds me of Brandon Taylor gets everyone lined up right and makes all the checks and does his job at an underrated elite level.
Cooley reminds me a lot of Jessie Daniels. Hes does all the things right and allows others to be more aggressive and hes asked to play a lot of 1-on-1 coverage with slot receivers/tight ends and he is been very competitive even though that is not his strength.
Spears looks like a Grant Delpit/Jamal Adams hybrid. Can play man coverage, robber coverage, deep Quarter/Half coverage, and has a unique size to be physical at the line of scrimmage. If the lights have started to turn on he is going to be a DAWG next season.

Tackling is better, coverage is better, more aggressive and attacking defense, speed to the ball, great angles too.
Looks like a completely different unit out there compared to last year.

Up until UF probably the most quietly improved unit on defense. Spears made it loud, but good lord it is refreshing to have consistently good play at S for what feels like the first time in forever.

Corey needs to give them boys back that DBU ball. This is the best our secondary has looked since '19.

As soon as a receiver catches a ball he's getting popped and tackled immediately
This is the best tackling team we’ve seen in quite a while. At all 3 levels of the defense. Even the CBs don’t miss tackles often.

Maybe a reason has been explained, but I haven't seen it.....but has anyone addressed the wide open receiver behind everyone, including our safeties?

If you go watch the hannycast on YouTube they do a good job explaining it. It was a coverage bust on either Cooley or Perk. Both covered the middle of the field and neither covered the deep end of the field, thus the RB was standing wide open by himself

Imagine the meltdown around here in 2021 if we had passed on #3 safety Sage Ryan and offered #150 safety AJ Haulcy. And yet

Ryan transferring was a huge addition by subtraction. Is he even starting at Ole Miss? It looks like he's only played in two of their games and has 4 tackles. Womack hasn't done anything either.
Apparently he was a huge liability in their 42-35 game versus Arkansas. Lets hope he plays decent enough this weekend to be starting Week 5

We're not seeing the "arm" tackling that we've seen in years prior, Thank goodness. Nice to have a secondary that likes to hit people.
