Agreed, the lowest iq people are screaming about roster spend.
Reasonable people realize that bringing 50 people replacing entire rooms due to the past staffs incompetence know it will cost more to fill that. They also know no one is seriously contending for a title without being in the top 15 spending. There is a price to success.
Kentucky brought in 40 transfers and lsu was right at 42 or 43.

You'd be crying like a little bitch if LSU spent $10 million on a roster and was 4-2 right now too, so your opinion doesn't matter.

Criticize the product on the field all you want. I certainly will. But at least have enough understanding of the situation to separate legitimate football criticism from lazy, recycled media narratives.

agree with you about the inflated hyperbole of the roster and salaries, but on this point:
If we lose four more games or even worse, or if there’s a meltdown and we lose even more than that, we are back into the same bad negotiating position that we were in last year. Negotiating from a position of weakness, not of strength. And it will be rinse, recycle, repeat.
Also, don’t forget that there will be multiple player defections if we lose that many games, maybe even at some very critical positions.

You think that comes cheap? You think players and their agents weren’t fully aware of the leverage they had? LSU wasn’t negotiating from a position of strength.

The excuses for Kiffin are already getting old and we're only halfway through his first season. I'll just say that you don't spend $50 million on a roster to not make the playoffs.
Honestly, the roster cost this year was probably based on a team producing a record that justifies Kiffins salary more than it was about trying to produce a playoff team in year one.
Imagine, if you will, spending the amount of money LSU did on Kiffin only to have him come in and post a 4-8 record his first season. If you think people are complaining about the money being spent right now, THAT situation would have had people carrying torches and pitchforks to Tiger Stadium.
Sheesh. I expected Kiffin to produce a much better team Year One than BK put together the last few years of his ruinous tenure. And so far, he's done that. Unless we have an all-out collapse and lose the majority of our games going forward I think that this season will be a successful reboot of the Tiger football program. Kiffin will have proven his worth to the people that pay his salary, and the boosters who footed the bill for the roster can say that they did everything possible to make him successful.
You can play with how YOU define success (which at this point is stupid, since we're only halfway through the season). But I'd hold off on assuming what the people actually putting their money where their mouths are consider an adequate return for their investment.

a failure of a season (if they don't run the table and make the playoff) and a waste of $50 million.
man you say some stupid shite....Oregon spends as much if not more than LSU and didn't have a coaching change, same thing with Texas.

Well said. Everyone - players, coaches & fans want instant success and instant rewards. I believe all pay should be based on results not "potential" Being real, LKiffin should be judged after 3 years with at least 1 playoff appearance. Just means a Top 12 finish. Heck some are saying 24 teams may make the future inflated bracket. Need minimum 9-3 this year though injuries have limited the Tigers
