The drive leading up to and including this play was supernatural:

Miami of Ohio, 1986.

You just kept waiting for something to happen to go LSU's way. It never did.

It was the classic case of letting an inferior team hang around so long that they start to get the idea that they can actually win.

There was a game after Katrina where we had to go on the road and play. Was it Appalachian State?

App State was at home, just before Hurricane Gustav. That was kind of surreal, too. 10 am kickoff in TS, and nobody could really concentrate on the game because everybody was worried about getting home and battening down the hatches.

November 20, 1982 LSU-FSU, the greatest game I ever saw. The winner goes to the Orange Bowl, and it was a beat-down, 55-21. Everyone brought oranges to the game and the end zone wasn't green after we scored.

Then around half-time the fog rolled in and it was difficult to even see the players on the filed.

This game was so surreal it's hard to even describe the energy that night.

I looked at most posts here, and may have missed it if these three games were included, but here goes.

1. September 22, 1990. LSU loses at Vanderbilt, 24-21. A phantom offensive pass interference call on Todd Kinchen cost the team what would have been a great comeback. That call was every bit as bad as any in the 2006 Auburn game. Kinchen also dropped a sure touchdown pass late in the first half. He had a great career, but that was maybe his worst game.

2. September 7, 1996--LSU 35, Houston 34. A great comeback, as LSU was down by 20 points going into the 4th quarter and scored 3 td's in that quarter to win it. Kevin Faulk & Rondell Mealey had great games.

3. September 11, 2005--LSU 35, Arizona State 31. This was the debut of Les Miles. A key return of a blocked punt in the 4th quarter was crucial. I believe the game was played in Tempe. Maybe others can comment on that one.

Ole Miss 2012 - Mett kneeling out the drive at the 5 yd line with 5 min left in the game...

I believe that got Houston Nutt fired but CLM thought he was doing him a kind gesture.

Les faked a punt on the very first drive of the game from the ten yard line. THAT is more fitting for Les

You're right, I forgot about that. Weird game even if you don't consider the circumstances surrounding it.

2000 vs Bama

Bama punting to DD.
Bama player blocked into him ball bounces free.
Ref calls interference, then uncalled it.
Gave Bama the ball first and goal, then LSU players point to jumbotron (first year we had those) and refs give ball back to LSU instead even though there was no such thing as replay at the time.
two students run across field to moon the visiting section of fans. One breaks several tackles before security finally gets him.
LSU beats Bama in Death Valley for first time since '69.
Fans rush field and tear down the greased up goal posts.

after this game SEC passed a rule prohibiting stadiums from replaying controversial plays in the stadium.

Was a wonderful experience. Didn't realize it's the reason there's no decent replays at the games. Figures. The refs got it right, oh the horror.

2011?

way back 1970 opener vs ATM, Tiger defender slips on out route and receiver scores on 80 yard TD at the buzzer for W. LSU goes on to win SEC.
1971 opener Colorado Buff team fresh from losing previous Liberty Bowl to Green slimes comes in TS and dominates! Last game we would ever let my sister in law Greenie fan) attend a game with us!

You cite most of them but banking $20 on the fact that Les Miles owns 75% of them.

Vandy fumble at goal line and return in the 90's.

MBOAT: Ole Miss in 73 or 74. Archie's last game, played with a hard cast. Ole Miss ahead 17-15 at half but LSU clearly better. I bet my friend next to me in student section a case of cheap champagne and gave him 40 points and Ole Miss. Won by 44. Iirc final was 61-17.

Most bizarre game? There were a lot of them but the one that takes the cake was Tennessee 2010.

Bama 2000...really bad call by the refs. No replay at the time BUT LSU had one large jumbotron in the SEZ. Kevin Wagoner kept replaying and replaying the play with the bad call .. Refs stopped, looked up and watched and then reversed the call. We were doing reviews before there were reviews.

I remember the after game radio show giving Wagonet player of the game. First time we'd beaten Bama in my lifetime. And I was pregnant ... That was a rough game.
