The Maturation of Todd Peterson

Seemed like he struggled in the first part of last season. Then became arguably the best pitcher on staff by the end of '18.
So what happened? Mechanics? Confidence? Role?

Went from being a starter to a relief pitcher and found his niche and best role on the team.

He stopped having to try to leave something in the tank to make it longer in games. He was allowed to go out there and let loose. His fastball velo climbed and his breaking ball got sharper as a result. Those things built his confidence.

I wonder if we ever see him hit triple digits here. Once he got here I think I remember him being more in the 93-94mph range. Dude was hitting 97-98mph against Southeastern...that's incredible.

I want him to do well. He’s got a great attitude and team spirit. When he went up to bat last year, that was one of the greatest most fun moments that I’ll never forget.

I think it’s a possibility. It was chilly outside when he was hitting 98. When it warms up, he might be able to do it.

I would have to say role and confidence. Not every pitcher is meant to be a starter. That takes a special kind of player in my opinion. It’s easier at times to make a starter a reliever rather than a reliever a starter.
