Maybe you should look at the OP. I'm not throwing his early success in anyone's face.

You said you believe we're witnessing the resurgence of LSU as a national power. You said nobody should be surprised if Orgeron's success this season is thrown in their faces.

Are you saying you disagree with the OP now?

My point is someone who predicted that this team would be where it is right now would have been laughed off of the rant.

Yeah probably. I can't really speak for others but I thought we'd be 6-2 with a close loss to Auburn to this point. So I can't honestly say I'm shocked at where we are right now. Pleasantly surprised and very excited, no doubt.

You don’t huh? Good thing you aren’t on the committee.

There is WAY too much football left to make the declaration that we're in the hunt for a national championship, especially with our biggest game in 3 years coming up on Saturday. You know, a game against a supposedly (better???) unbeatable Alabama team that is a 2 touchdown favorite.

Alabama can lose on Saturday and still get into the playoffs. We cannot.

What in the ever loving frick does this have to do with O?

Because if we were undefeated (like Alabama is), I would not disagree with you that we are in the hunt for a NC.

I'm saying that I wasn't the one throwing it up in people's faces. It was the OP. You still can't seem to grasp that fact. Anyway I hope that you can work that out in your head.

I thought given our talent we would have 1 loss heading into bama. I thought that loss would be UGA. We are still one of the most talented teams in cfb.
Im very happy with the team thus far and i give O the lion's share of the credit

Why do you think that Les got fired? Because he was doing a great job? He got fired for not handling his business as coach and the team suffered because of it.

Miles got fired because he and Alleva had been at odds for years. He wanted input into the football program and Miles gave him none. You saw that crap about him having a film session with Aranda, Canada and O last season? That never happened under Miles.

He resented Miles for using him to get an extension. Alleva wanted his guy in there, someone who he could control, which was Orgeron. Miles was never "his guy."

He took the highly unusual step of firing a NC winning coach the first month into the season, when public opinion of Miles was low after a tough road loss. He knew that if Miles went on a roll and won some games as the schedule eased up, Miles would regain public favor and he wouldn't be able to fire him.

Let me put it like this, if Ole Miss wins out, are they going to the playoffs?

If LSU wins out, are they going to the playoffs?

One would seem to be in the hunt, no?

Do you agree with the OP? Or should we reserve judgement on Orgeron until he has a larger body of work?

Les should've been fired the season before. He was on borrowed time to begin with. Your post reeks of revisionism. Anyway Les got Les fired.

Even if you erased lsu football from 2005-2011, Miles' sec win% from 2012-2016 would rank 3rd best of any lsu coach since 1932.

Imo it was time for a change but in historical reference his last 4 years were in no way horrible. They were just down from the level he set

IF LSU finishes in the top 10 I'll be favorably impressed. Still, we must win the SEC.

Well yeah I left that part out. Miles was set to be fired, but Alleva fricked that up because he's a coward. He capitulated to the public's positive image of Miles being carried off the field vs A&M and reversed course.

He laid in wait like a snake in the grass until the next earliest possible opportunity to fire him and did it.

Give me miles conference record the last three plus seasons and then tell me if that is good enough. The program was heading the wrong direction thank goodness we have O now who has righted the ship

I agree that coach O has done a good job so far and I'm confident that will continue but will reserve judgment until the end of the season to form an opinion. I'm not sure what little point that you're trying to make but do us both a favor and stop doing it because it's going nowhere.

It’s a great second season after a mediocre first year. Let’s see him maintain this success and bring home some hardware

“Awww GTFO”

Are you 15?

I don’t think Incredible describes the LSU season to this point in time. Shoot me.

I had LSU 10-2 once Joe joined us. I never did buy into this we had no talent stuff and that was why we were embarrassed at Mississippi State and lost to Troy.

2017= worse than miles last year and vastly worse offense

2018= looking good headed into the bama game and still have a bad offense.

There is no proof that ship has been righted just yet.
O is on his way to proving he is righting it but its not confirmed just yet.

That's the point everyone is making by bringing up Miles. Not that Miles should still be here or anything like that. Just that we've seen this movie before and it hasn't always ended the way would like.
