Was at my school as part of the NFL Hall of Fame Hometown Hero program. Got to talk to him, Bob Petit, and Skip Bertman. Pretty sweet day.

Still my favorite player of all time.

Truly one of our greats; he is sometimes forgotten.

NEVER forgotten! He was the reason I was a Green Bay Packers fan back in the day.

Wow, you hit the trifecta being able to talk to those three in the same day.
I'm old enough to remember Jim in the Packer backfield with Paul Hornung during the Lombardi era. He was a load for certain.

I met his daughter at a party when we were in college. She had a date with a friend of mine.

Yes he was. Out rushed Jim Brown one year. Might have done it more times, but he had to share with the Golden Boy.
My Dad's favorite, then mine.
I still remember his Coke commercial. It showed him running like 98 yards, and then cut to him chuggin a Coke, and saying, "Coke is REAL good".

Taylor was tough as nails--a great Tiger, who contributed to the tremendous teams of the late 50's to early 60's. He had a tremendous pro career with a great Green Bay squad also.
I once saw a great photo of him where you can see a cut he received after some physical play, carrying the football, but running tough, as always. If someone could pull that up and figure a way to link it, that would be great.

He never played on a great Tiger team. I remember how excited we were when he joined the Saints WITH Hornung. Hornung couldn't pass a physical and Jimmy was running on fumes, so he never did anything. But his Saints uniform is in the HoF!

Apologies, my bad. I was trying to recall the years he played with the Tigers--I guess he wasn't there for any of the Billy Cannon seasons, perhaps came along a few years after that.

I think he was a senior Cannon's freshman year. Freshmen couldn't play on varsity then.
