Forget Bert Jones, YA Tittle, Zach M, Tommy Hodson, Rohan, etc. Brennan is the best EVER.

Go back and watch his snaps against Chattanooga. He was slower than Danny Etling. What do you mean he can escape the rush and extend the play? Not against Alabama and other elite teams.

Lindsey Scott accounted for over 5000 yards running and passing on his way to a state championship and was also anointed the most valuable player in the state of Louisiana his senior year, and look where it got him? At LSU what you did in high school doesn't matter because the SEC level is an all new ball game.

We don’t have the players to compete for am sec title. We need better dline and Oline and WR’s

Your statement is both true and false. TRUE: what you did in high school does not guarantee success in college (any conference). FALSE: It got him to the number one JUCO in the country, on the way to winning a national championship (potentially), while he piles up offers and interest from other colleges. We don't know (at this point) what he would have done at LSU. As that his recruitment is re-opened, he could return to the SEC (though as QB, I wouldnt).

The SEC level is an new ball game. No doubt. But Scott could end up in the ACC or B10, which are arguably better conferences currently.

To say that level of competition doesnt factor in is, well, crazy. That said, he can spin it. Time will tell whether he is elite.

Mississippi 4A (ST. STANISLAUS 476 students)
LINK

Tyler Allen threw for 4263 yards at the same school his Sr. Year
LINK

Dylan Favre had 12,000 at the same school which was the state record.

Great High school career at a school that threw it A LOT!

Its downright scary. We'll end up outside the top 15 for the first time in how long?

Umm. Three years???

Could we even go outside top 20?

Hmm. Yep. Also three years ago.

Good lord you people.

ETA: Actually, I stand corrected. Last three years straight. Hopefully you're being sarcastic.

I'm sorry but I'm not quite sure Brennan is the answer, as he seems to be quite slow of foot. I just don't know if LSU can win championships with slow of foot drop back passers. Everybody else has been doing it with dual threats who can do it with their arm as well as their feet.

Wrong wrong. Bama's QB is anything but a passer. He has a very average arm. Now, he can run like the best RBs but not what you described here...

That's all good iand everything, but none of it explains away what happened at Mississippi State. It one thing to lose a game and another thing to get embarrassed by a team we normally beat. That is followed up by a disappointing effort vs a much less talented Syracuse team that saw them pretty much play us equal in our house.

We can throw out the "it's only 4 games" excuse all we want, but any LSU fan not wondering what the hell is going on is only trying to hide from the fact there is serious questions as the the spirit and heart on display.

All I am saying is that it is to Brennan's advantage to have actually done it once, albeit against so called "crap" defense, then to have never done it all.. the rest of our QBs have never done anything close to those numbers through the air.. which makes it hard to match that throwing experience. In reads, footwork, timing, release, arm speed and strength, hell just having to throw the ball as much as he did puts him way ahead of the other QBs in the passing game. Now if we are going to run 40-45 plays a game you can get any 2 star game manager QB to do that..

However, you shouldn't judge the results after 4 games after making the change that was needed (that everyone wanted) to a vastly different system that our personnel is not ideally suited to. This is too radical a change not to have bumps in the road.

The offense has been simplified twice now to a basic high school scheme. How is this offense a "radical change" again? Canada's offense is pre-snap motion. That's not radical wither.

having 19/20 commitments and still falling outside the top 10 at this juncture is far from promising. If O can't even recruit, he's useless.

Agreed. That was, and is, his one biggest selling point. Last year, despite the high ranking, was a disapointment considering how many top players in state we lost, but he gets a bit of a pass for that because he was just named permanent HC a couple of months before signing day. If this class is lackluster, he gets no pass, and it will be a sign that his greatest strength isn't that strong. Fixing the offensive and defensive lines are obviously the biggest needs, but we also need help at WR and RB. I don't expect the complete rebuild to be done in one recruiting class, but this one needs to at least be a big step in that direction.

Who said they were simplifying the offense?

When was the first time the offense was simplified?

I heard Orgeron say they were going to try to simplify the protections and blocking schemes, but to take that as simplifying the offense, seems like a stretch.
