Maybe people think he is great because he averages 20-13-5 as a freshman
You didn't know? It's because the ESPN announcers, not him averaging a double double a game
Our fans, man.

Ben would be averaging close to 18 ppg on the crap team he would be on. He'd probably be averaging 9 ast as well.

Lebron scored 25 points in his first NBA game against an NBA defense. I don't see how he compares to Lebron
You can be really fricking good and not be Lebron.

The nba is all about passing outside the perimeter and baskets under the rim these days. Not being able to regularly hit ten foot jump shots will do nothing to Simmons draft status.

Doing what? The SFs and PFs in the NBA would eat him up at this point.

The nba is not a defense league. And it especially wasn't back in lebron's rookie year. Totally different game. Not comparable. Sorry

You literally repeat what you hear from the media, it's obvious.
He does everything very, very well. Teams sag on him in the paint because we're streaky from 3pt range and there are no other players on the court who can create their own shot.
Simmons will shine at the NBA level. No doubt in my mind.

This is a good point. We have no one to be afraid of.

Jay bilas literally said Ben Simmons was taking it to Kevin durant over the summer. He wouldn't get ate up. He wouldn't be all NBA but he would be an all rookie

Where was all this nonsense after the Vandy game?
People pick and choose his weaknesses depending on the night. I'm confident there are only about 5-6 people who have seen another basketball game in college this year in its entirety.
People lose their mind over Buddy Hield - he's a great player, don't get me wrong - but 90% of this board would swap Simmons for Hield in a second.
Hield:
26.1/5.6/2.5 on 63.9% eFG. .5 blocks, 1.4 steals, and 3.1 TOs per game as well
Simmons:
20.0/12.9/5.1 on 56.5% eFG. 1.1 blocks, 1.8 steals, and 2.9 TOs per game.
People fawn over jump shooters. That won't change anytime soon, but it makes this place pretty miserable considering how great Simmons is at everything else.

He can't shoot jumpers. He can do everything else. Shooting is by far the easiest thing to fix. Lebron wasn't a great shooter when he came into the league either and really still isn't. He can knock down the 3 when needed but not great by any means. Whoever drafts Ben is going to work with him 1 or 2 summers and by year 3 at the latest he'll be knocking down NBA 3's. Only exception is if Philly drafts him, then maybe he won't pan out

Ben Simmons' stats and national rank in each:
PPG: 20.0 (28)
RPG: 12.9 (4)
APG: 5.1 (60)
SPG: 1.76 (74)
BPG: 1.12 (217)
FG%: 56.3% (47)
Maybe he falls short of being the best player in the country as a freshman, but those numbers are outstanding. To compare him just against other freshman:
PPG: 2nd
RPG: 1st
APG: 2nd
SPG: 7th
BPG: 37th
FG%: 4th
He's one big game away from leading all freshmen in points, rebounds, and assists, while putting up good steal and block numbers as well.
Only three players in the country rank higher in both PPG and APG this season, as well as a fourth ahead in APG and tied in PPG. Those players are Dallas Moore (North Florida, JR, 20 PPG, 5.7 APG), Devin Watson (San Francisco, SO, 20.3 PPG, 5.3 APG), Jack Gibbs (Davidson, JR, 25.7 PPG, 5.3 APG), and Kahlil Felder (Oakland, JR, 25.6 PPG, 8.7 APG). None of those players are close to Simmons on rebounding, and only Felder is ahead in steals. And those players are all from smaller schools with, presumably, weaker opponent quality.
