The DKR atmosphere was amazing

This was one of the better road games I attended when it comes to in game atmosphere. Texas doesn’t have the pre-game atmosphere like the SEC schools, but that stadium was rocking. They did a good job of keeping the crowd interested with piped in music and their sound system actually sounds good. The UT band doesn’t seem to get involved to much like the TGBFTL does. I can’t imagine what it sounded like before opening the endzone for construction. Wish our home and home wasn’t during construction...

I kind of feel like the student section was lackluster compared to other games I've been to. But it could have something to do with the south endzone maybe and also the way they handle student tickets, which was very, very chaotic.

It was loud at times. It got too quiet right there at the end of the first half even before we got those two quick scores. It’s aesthetically nice. It doesn’t compare any sec venue. They need to close the stadium. It has potential but the stands are too far away from the field. The pick they had in the first quarter was very loud. The touchdown they had late on that big pass play on 4th down it got really loud. It is an awesome venue just don’t expect it to be as loud as LSU, Auburn, Bama, Florida etc.

I agree. I've been to a bunch of LSU games. I never thought Texas fans can do it like we can for the Saints and stuff. My first game was Notre Dame when I decided to transfer to Texas and I feel like the energy from the student section was much better. But they changed the way they started doing student tickets. Use to be you got a designated seat depending on your classification and when you bought the tickets. Now it is first come, first serve. meaning, every single student could show up outside the stadium, get inside the stadium, and then not even be able to watch the game in the stadium. We had to wait outside the stadium for 2.5 hours, then everyone stampeded and trampled each other to get in at 4:30. That shite, had me exhausted not even wanting to make noise.

Also, feel like the band use to be way better and get the student section into a lot more. But I've only been to two games before, because I rather have Saints games off than to go to a Texas games since I work in restaurant industry.

Of the 20 or so stadiums I’ve been to across the country, UT was one of the tamest overall experiences. For such a big game, it rarely even got very loud.

Yea, it is crazy that the game was so big, and the fans for Texas seemed lackluster. It definitely has been better in the past for the Maryland game and Notre Dame game I attended. But still not as loud as Death Valley and other SEC stadiums.

The stands are much closer now than they used to be. There used to be a track around the field and the south end was completely open. Several years back, when they installed the Godzillatron as it was then-called, they constructed metal bleachers in the south endzone. That's where they moved the band to. There has been major opposition to completely enclosing the south end as it would block the view of the tower and downtown skyline. Based on what I saw and heard from Texas fans this weekend, they plan to go ahead with the south end expansion.

It won't be done until 2021 I believe from credible resources, which is a long time.

I sat in the end zone upper deck.
I was surprised how much different it sounded with the south end zone totally open. Much quieter, not only no sound coming from there, but all the sound rolling down the hill. The expansion is catering to the $$$ alumni, preserving as much of the view as possible, and reducing the number of seats
Student seating is in flux. South end zone was student seating. Seats are now first come, first serve. No more ticket pulls and not showing up. $ea$on ticket $ale$ >> Available student seats. “Sorry kids, I’m older and have more insurance.”
I’m an old, but going out after the game was always the norm. Austin has always had great night life, with plenty of A/C. Being in the heat and drinking all day is tough.
Most of the drunk kids I saw before the game looked like hammered shite afterwards.
Burrow was money. His cupped hand wave was great. I know he meant “horns down or FU,” but that is so cliche. But he didn’t do either; kudos to him.
Hope y’all light up the rest of your schedule.

I could hear both bands on tv (watched replay) very well, but at the game I never heard the Texas band from my seats. I was right below our band so I heard them. ABC puts microphones near each band so they can be heard on tv.

WTF! That is amazing.

Can I give a hot take? I have zero issue with them putting the band and 3K tickets in the upper deck.
I get that it's "classless" because nobody does that, but I wish more programs did it. If opposing fans want to sit in the lower bowl, buy on the secondary market.

The atmosphere was amazing in spite of the artificial crap. Their announcer is lame and the piped in music as well. The crowd was loud and hyped, which made the game more fun.
Sadly, Tiger Stadium’s atmosphere has been moving toward this type of stuff for years. We don’t need cannons (thanks CLM) or fireworks.

It isn’t as good as the top tier SEC stadiums for atmosphere. They also have a dog shite home schedule almost every year. That’s what happens when Nebraska and TAMU leave and you play Oklahoma in Dallas.

I never heard the band play that horrible noise they play when the other team is in redzone. Either they didn't play it or the tv wouldn't turn their mics on for it.

The place was jacked and loud but not as loud as a jacked Tiger Stadium partly because of the Ipen south end and Coon-Asses scream louder. The artificial noise and loudspeakers are over done and pollutes the senses. Tiger fans were scattered everywhere and I estimate 12,000 of us made it into the stadium, and we made noise vs. 88,000 of their guys.

New band director so I think that horrible noise has been put to rest.
I didn't hear it all on Saturday.
