To have two key players out and still have a 8-9 man rotation is amazing. Most CBB teams have 7-8 man rotations at best. Fatigue should never be an issue with this team.

Also I think Jalen Cook will be the best PG in the SEC next season (assuming Smart leaves). Cook will be a star in the P&G.

This team has the potential to make a big run in the tourney. Sweet 16 should be the floor for this team.

Wait until LSU is about to win the SEC. I would bet my life savings Dick Vitale and Pat Forde will be back in the spotlight talking about allegations and blah blah blah and just regurgitating the same things they have been for 2 years now.

I have been VERY impressed with Cook in the limited minutes I've seen him. He seems totally committed on the defensive end to which is something we've been desperately needing at that position for years.

I LOVE me some Jalen Cook. He's so damn efficient. Turnovers will decrease with more time at this level.

Agree with OP. This is by far the most depth Wade has ever had.

The only player I've been a little disappointed with has been the transfer from Washington. I expected him to be able to help a little more.

Easy now.

Javonte may very well be the best PG in the SEC right now. Did you see his game yesterday?

Right now Cook is the most consistent and solid backup PG and should get most of the minutes there. Particularly because he gives great effort on defense. But I wouldn't sleep on Gaines. He shows flashes of being a big time playmaker. Of the three (Smart, Cook, Gaines), he's the only one that looks to be a facilitator as much as he does for his own offense. For as good as they have been, Smart and Cook are still scorers first

If he can reach it, I think Gaines's ceiling is much higher. He can be dynamic. Cook, on the other hand, may not have as high a ceiling. But he looks to be a guy the coaches can count on to give consistent play night in and night out.

Also assuming Jalen stays. Will easily be gone if he keeps up this level of play

Eta: I read Cam Thomas instead of Cook for some reason. I haven't had my coffee yet.

As well as Cook is playing, I can't see him being one and done. His size alone will assure that he stays more than one year.

I'm not quite sure the NBA is looking for many 6'0 guards averaging 6 points and 1 assist per game. Unless he wants to start a career in Europe/Asia, I strongly suspect he will be back at LSU next season

Yes Alt I would agree Gaines has more upside because of his size, but I would take a bit of issue with Cook being a shoot first guy, I think time will show he is more than willing to be a facilitator.

But Cook's defensive not only commitment but ability is really needed for us. So many of our defensive issues start with inability to stop initial dribble penetration. He is the best WW has had in that regard and I don't think Gaines with all his potential will ever be able to match him there.

Agreed. I hope this is Wade's masterpiece, we should only get better as the season continues.

Javonte is the best point guard in the SEC and one of the best in the country. I’ve watched a shite ton of college basketball this season already and there isn’t any point guard I’d trade him for with the way he’s played. His turnovers are down and his efficiency is as close to as perfect as you can be. His much improved floor game and defense coupled with his top end offensive capability makes him an elite point guard this year.

Cook is the best real PG on this team right now IMHO

Smart is really good, but I think he is a natural SG
