We rarely had 4 legit NC contenders in the 4 team playoff system.
We haven't even see a legit NC play yet, but we have seen 2 full home stadiums and 2 big TV audiences.

I’d be willing to bet we see some of this every year. There are probably only about 6-8 teams every year that could win it all. The other teams in the playoffs are going to be lesser. However, I do believe bama was better than SMU and Indiana. Even ND and PSU look slow.

I understand that argument but teams should at least have proven they can beat a quality team to get consideration. Anyone who says Ole Miss, USCe, and Bama wouldn’t have been better opponents than Indiana and SMU is just being disingenuous.

quote:the BCS formula was two-thirds silly voter polls. The rest of it was a formula that was revised every year. Garbage in, garbage out.
We should let the BCS computer choose the top 12 seeds and let them play it out.
I'd much rather have a Committee decide the top 12, taking into account a lot of different metrics and stats.

We needa out and dry system. Win your conference, go to the playoffs. Have a quick shower where the match ups are pulled at random

year one I don’t think they wanted to be accused of shutting out the little guys,
I think the conferences didn’t want to create a scenario where teams were refusing to play the conference championship game.

You should be embarrassed
I should be embarrassed because it is obvious that some teams didn't belong....there are multiple teams in the playoffs that never beat a top 25 team...and it is showing. But yeah, I should be embarrassed.

there are some real idiots on here though. They think a team that never won a quality game belongs over teams that won multiple quality games. Any of those 3 teams would have been double digit favorites over Indiana and SMU....and Boise and Arizona State.

Who are clearly the best teams?
The point is just have clear guidelines to make the playoffs and deal with it.

But….. you and everyone else would have bitched loud and long if Bama got in over them.
No
I’m bitching about the twelve team format
It’s stupid and we are now watching it in real time.
Four teams was good
Make an argument for six teams with one and two getting a bye
And I would be ok with that
This is a shitshow
And so is NIL
Enjoy all of the assholes willing to ruin college football

Bama and Ole Miss did not deserve a bed to the playoffs.
Bama or Ole Miss would beat SMU by three TDs

Probably, still have no business even being allowed in the playoffs.

Money money money
It’s all about the money. And someone pointed this out earlier, people are watching and the stadiums are full so it’s working.
Oh and Texas just made it 21-7.

They all had their chance, but they all lost 3 of 8 conference games. The regular season has to mean something.

There should only be 4 conferences.
SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12
The conference championship is the start of the college football playoffs.
It should be that simple. No committee, no at large crap.

But that means only three playoff games. Not enough money doing it that way. That’s why the NFL kept adding teams. More teams equals more games.

Then make the regular season longer

Yes. They both did. Their wins over Georgia, Bama won by 29 at LSU at night. Beat SC. Yes. Those wins more than deserve with 3 losses over 2 loss SMU with 0 quality wins.
Everyone here is a pussy letting emotions and bias overtake logic.
