Don't act like he did LSU a favor by taking a low salary, come on.

Right. His salary is actually higher than it should be considering he has no other options for HC.

I think O is gonna suprise people. I was worried but the way he's held onto the class...Hired good OC... and made Aranda want to stay... He's on the right track.. He was one of the first coaches to make a coordinator hire and grabbed one of the best. Ur misstepped a little with the tua offer but it worked out.. If Canada can elevate one of our qbs to play well and we get good oline play this team will win 10'gsmes in O's first season.

But he didn't. Plus Aranda is making even more now.

I'd imagine LSU gives him a good vision plan. Probably free check ups and eye glasses. They just take it out of his check.

He very well might. His coordinators and talent should get him to 10 wins. What can he do to get the other 3-4?

I honestly dont think he will be ole miss bad, or even .500. I think he'll hover around 9-3, 10-2 etc.

And if that's the case, the HC hire was a complete failure. There is nothing in O's history, or history in general, to claim that he will be better than that. It has never happened...literally never.

Obviously a lot of people are okay with that.

Yes, we supposedly fired Miles because he wasn't winning championships anymore. So how do we settle for Orgeron? I assure you, Joe Alleva is not some genius who figured out that getting a figurehead HC and "great coordinators" wins championships.

What gets you over the hump from 10-2 or 9-3 or 8-4 to championships? What makes a difference in those crucial big games? The head coach.

And seeing O's "deer in the headlights" look on the sidelines when the going got tough against the gumps and Florida, we don't have a difference maker at head coach. Hell, Alleva and LSU acknowledged that with this "business plan."

He's going to "evolve"? Please. He's 55 years old. He is what he is.

I believe O will get to 10 wins....probably year 1 and 2. My issue is when both coordinators leave and now we are paying O 5 mill per year because he did so well. It will be harder to go out and get those coordinators with less budget.

I understand your concern, but not a guarantee that both coordinators leave. And if they do, under your scenario, LSU is doing well. Budget will be bigger bc of success and new coordinators will see LSU as more attractive bc of success and ability to move up in coaching.

So not doom and gloom. Geaux Tigers!

I'll put it like this; is O as good of a coach right now as Saban was at Michigan St? I would say no.

So we are at a minimum 20 years away from Coach O being on Saban's level, MINIMUM. If you think somehow that O can get to Saban's level in 3 years, or even 10 years, then that shows you have a complete lack of understanding or appreciation for what it takes for a coach like Saban to become as great as he is.

What you are expecting from this man just does not happen. Why do you assume the most optimistic result instead of the most realistic result?

I'm not saying it is doom and gloom, however, it's the ability to forecast and be proactive that separates mediocre results and outstanding results. Taking emotions out of it, it's just not a good hire. But, we will see what it looks like in years 3-4. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut....

Because....he is an optimist? The reality of our situation is that LSU has been a sleeping Tiger who is about to wake up, and Coach O is the alarm clock. He has the best DC in the country and a red hot OC looking to make a name for himself.

I like our chances.
