That was the play of a brain dead first baseman. Take the easy out instead of giving their hottest hitter another chance at bat---------------and he drives a run in because of that inept play.
He did redeem himself with the homer later in the game, but that non-play on the batter was plain stupid.

It is what I could not understand. I kind of understood Sunday, but when I heard we were the away team Monday, my thought was WTF?

No he wouldn’t have been. If Bear picks it up and doesn’t watch it he tags the runner easily. It was literally one of the most brain dead plays I can remember. The hottest hitter in the country gives you a free out and you give him a second chance……and then he delivered.
