And how do you feel about passing for 189 yards in the first half, and then coming out, sitting on the ball, and passing for only 13 yards? No wonder it was a close game, we didn't keep playing, we quit trying to score. We've got to establish Harris more. These next 2 weeks are going to be really important for getting in sync with the passing game. Fournette is going to need to rest up big time, because LSU is about to go through their annual gauntlet, and if he has to miss any time at any point in any game, then LSU has to be prepared to find another way to score.

I would love to spread out and go pass heavy, but with LF7's ability to pound the ball the gameplan makes sense.

No one, AT ALL, is saying "heavily" pass the ball. They had 13 YARDS passing in the 2nd half, compared to 189 in the first. We need to establish Harris in the 2nd half better. Fournette needs no establishing. He's established before the game starts.

I agree with everything you said and would have enjoyed watching us hold or increase the lead. That said, we were tested when UF came back to tie the game and our team responded. If you also look at the positives, our DL continued to apply pressure to the very end and that wouldn't be the case last year. That was exactly the type of game that we may have lost in prior years.

Passing the ball in those situations was not sensible at the time.

You can't be afraid to do that. You need to be prepared for ANY situation. Plenty of teams have dared to thrown the ball in that situation and came out roses. Am I saying its safe? Not at all, but its worth a shot at times. Can't always do the same thing over and over and expect different results, and you sure as hell can't waste possessions regardless of where they start. Maybe in the NFL you can play "Defensively" with bad field position, but LSU shouldn't have to do that. They can't let other teams dictate their play-calling.

Yep. I thought not having JD Moore would put us in a position to do that....but low and behold ole Les finds him a damn fullback.

1 and 2 can be fixed. 3 won't be. The frustrating part about the second half was that LSU abandoned a passing game that was WORKING with good success in the first half.

Perception is different than reality. LSU picking up the holding penalty was the problem in the first drive. In the second drive, Dural had a big drop and Fournette picked up a big chunk on first down. On the third drive, Williams almost picked up the first on third down. The issue on all of those drives was, oddly enough, second down execution. There were two second and mediums, and LSU executed their run blocking very poorly on both.

WE need LF, but I agree, you can't give him 40 carries. This goes back on Les- he needs to work on the run/pass balance for this team. Bama, Ole Miss, Ark & A&M, not to mention the possibility of a SEC Championship game- the load on LF needs to be lightened! I hope next week we could rest him, but in typical Miles fashion, I am sure we will allow Western Kentucky to stay around long enough that we need LF to get more carriers than he should.

Two weeks ago we pull LF before he gets his yards, this week we don't pull him quick enough.

Can't win for losing.

#1-obviously kick off and punt coverage. somehow this has morphed into "rocket science"

#2- pass coverage. yea, we are supposed to have great db's but they look lost in zone coverage way too often for this stage of the season.

#3- coaching with the lead. i'm a big Miles guy but I could have choked him last night. we come out of the locker room with a TWO TOUCHDOWN LEAD and go 3 straight 3 and outs. If we would have scored a TD on our first possession it would have been 35 to 14 about midway thru the third. florida didn't seem to make any great adjustments, we just quit running the crossing routes and quit passing the ball completely.

Perfect assessment. You are a soothsayer.

LSU has a powerful offense, no doubt. No one else in the country shuts it down and tries to ride a lead like Miles. Give credit to Florida, they are a good team. LSU should have won by 21. Take the want out of a team when you have the chance. LSU will lose a game with this strategy as the competition gets tougher.

Drive 1 was thwarted by holding.
Drive 2 in 3rd quarter was run pass pass
Fournette ran for 10 on 1st and twenty.

Not really horrid. Just poor execution.

Would you miles haters shut the frick up. If you pussies want something to bitch about then by all means unload on special teams. Without those mistakes LSU blows Florida out. That LSU was able to overcome those 14 special teams points says a lot about LSU. Fkn whiny arse bitch pussies.

LSU will lose a game if....

How many fkn times are we going to hear this.....I know you miles haters secretly want us to lose and when LSU loses a game you will say miles should be fired because he lost the game and caused us to finish 10-1. BTW you know that coach at bama, little Nicky, you know the dude on the poster you have hanging on your bedroom wall.....he is notorious for sitting on a lead.

Agree with most of your statements but #3 is a stretch.
First, the holding call on Clapp was a bad call, putting them in the hole. Then a receiver, (Think it was Dural) drops a sure first down pass. ST was the big culprit as you said. I also think that having Mills back actually caused a couple of the DB lapses, putting a few guys in new positions. They should get that ironed out pretty quick I would hope. They'll be facing a pretty sophisticated passing attack next Saturday night.

3. Thinking the game is over when we have a multiple TD lead. It's like our team says, "well shite, our work is done here". They've done it almost every game, and it's absolutely aggravating. This WILL lose us a game if they keep it up.

What's worse is our stupid fan base that thinks that once we take a lead it should be an automatic win. One of the TDs we gave up was special teams and everyone knows that is a major issue. However we were playing the number 8 freakin team in the country who has an awesome defense so having a couple three and outs isn't some like outrageous thing that is impossible to comprehend.

I don't think the intention was to take the foot off of the gas. The first possession began with a 10-yard holding penalty. The field position was not at all in LSU's favor early in the second half. One thing that the offense couldn't afford was a pick deep in its own end. We already gifted them two scores. We give them 3 and we lose.

It was a close game cause we dropped the ball in the red zone and there was a BS non-call on a Fla. punt return for a TD.

we didn't keep playing, we quit trying to score

The 1st 3 times LSU had the ball in the 1/2 was at our 25, pushed back to our 15 cause of holding, the 25, and the 15. Even being deep that deep, we throw 3 times. How is that not trying to score after 1/2???

Why don't we give some credit to the Fla. D. Their D efficiency is 2nd in the SEC and 7th in the nation.

The "season" starts in 3 weeks at T-Town. We wont be able to sit on any lead against Bama.
