Changing the offense in the offseason means working overtime hours during the summer. I think Les was long past putting in the extra work it takes to change the system.

I imagine Les Miles was thinking to himself, "Finally, what took them so long?"
I'm not trying to say he purposely tried to tank the back half of last year but I'm pretty sure he knew he couldn't realistically save his job after A&M last year
I'm thankful at least he gave us a good show in Houston for the bowl last year before checking out mentally on us

I have to think he was either clueless, or else burned out/mentally checked out on coaching. Most likely the latter.

Yeah they might have told him Cam had to go right now and he went down with him. No telling what went on behind closed doors but I am sure glad both cam and miles are no longer employed.

After the attempt to fire Miles failed last November I had a concern in my head he would feel afterward that he couldn't be fired, that the public had spoken and the AD/Chancellor couldn't overcome Les's public and team support. Maybe he felt the AD backing down represented a statement of public support for his method of coaching. If "Cameron has to go" were presented to him he might have felt he could be successful in an "I can't do that" answer.

Thats why I feel no sense of remorse for firing his arse. II would've loved for him to go on his terms, but he lost his mojo a long time ago.

Meh. He hired Aranda and pulled Harris way, way earlier than I thought he would.
The foundation is bad - other than, maybe, the recruiting piece, especially on offense. The next coach has a lot of work to do to get us to an SEC-CG.

you know, i think you're right. he's 63 and his kids are all but gone (except the youngest). it wouldn't surprise me at all that he's happy to get the money, build a nice home in Florida and buy an RV.
