McNeese is a frikin tiny school in Lake Charles that’s damn lucky to ever get anything above a 2 star high school player to look it’s way. To insinuate they’re on our level or anywhere near it is insane! They’re on the level of Lamar and Southeastern. I’ve had several friends that played at McNeese. Great guys but hardly “elite athletes” or anywhere close!! C’mon man!

I will also predict both UCLA and McNeese will have outstanding seasons.

UCLA is a good team and we lost due to not making plays. They will be 2nd in the Pac 12 this year behind Oregon.

McNeese lost to a D 2 school in week one.......and gave up 42 points. We couldn't score more than 34 points on that team, or pick up a 3rd and 1 (6inches), or dominate the line of scrimmage on the offensive side. The D kept us out of real trouble....but there are MAJOR concerns on the offense that starts with the Line. If we can't pick up blitzes from a D that gave up 42 points to a D 2 team...we are in real trouble in the SEC... I don't need to be a walk on to see that...

Why didn't we run screen passes against McNeese? What defensive newcomer other than Mason Smith impressed you the most?

No sir, I have no idea because I'm part of

Since you have graciously and humbly informed us that you are a former player who used to break down film with the coaches, I was expecting you to tell us why we didn't see more screen passes against McNeese.

I'm all ears.

I could buy what you are saying if you had added anything of substance to your long winded diatribe.

Because Peetz didn’t call any.

You are right about UCLA but wrong about McNeese. I will be proven right at seasons end. As far as us can't tell you enough how vanilla we were on offense last Saturday night. I watched the replay 3 times. What you are not seeing is O and the entire staff knew our defense was going to stuff McNeese all night long save for one well executed screen pass against 3rd and 4th stringers near the end of the game. With 3 OL starters out along with our best sub out the staff kept it simple. This wasn't more than a practice for the 2nd and 3rd team O line.

So in your eyes 8-4 is a successful season, have we become a fan base that accepts 8-4 as a record to justify retaining a low life shrimp boat captain.

It's real simple, we didn't have to. Why do it with 2nd and 3rd team lineman who hardly get any reps in practice and it fails and show the SEC how you run it and when. Screen passes are complicated and are for veteran lineman and backs. Save that for when we play Fla, Abu and Bama. Our backup OL need to run fundamental plays to get in sync and get experience.

Thar is fair. The O line was limited for sure. But what happens when guys go down in SEC play? Those 3rd and 4th stringers have to play. Against MUCH better D lines. We also went 3 and out coming out after halftime. Which should never happen against a "rent a win" team. And don't forget we had to convert not 1, but 2 4th downs on the Opening TD, and then got lucky on the booth review as the catch was questionable.

I just don't think McNeese is that good and certainly shouldn't have been that much of a problem for LSU if the TIGERS are as good as we are told they are....

I have concerns about this weekend's game too...I hope I am wrong. At least the D seems to be trending in the right direction.

Not only is LSU much better than 90% THINK they are but McNeese is also much better than 90% of the people here THINK they are.

I kind of agree with the top point. I think the talent on defense needs time to gel and get accustomed to the scheme and communication and the McNeese St. game was a good start.

On offense we still only got 33 total yards before contact on all rushing plays and that’s including goodwin’s 22 yard run. We had a total of 4 against UCLA.

Finally, McNeese St. is a bad football team. They are FCS and not even good FCS. The defense did what they needed to do and didn’t allow 100 yards offenses to late into the 4th with a well timed screen pass where our guys were being held too.

However that teams defense was torched in week 1, and we couldn’t move the ball in them on the ground. LSU isn’t as bad as some posters think, but McNeese st. is not good. At all.

First off Peetz aint in total charge of the offense. The offensive coaches have meetings with the head coach to devise the gameplan the week before the game. Yes Peetz calls plays with help and input from the HC and assistants. However bet you O and the staff decided before Saturday that they didn't need to run screens and quite a few other plays cause they didn't need to and because of the lack of healthy bodies.

Other than Mason Smith what newcomer on defense impressed you the most?

LSU should never accept “a winning season” as acceptable. Period. If O doesn’t win 8 games he’s gone. If he only wins 8, he should be damn close to being fired.
