Agreed that Ensminger only had one bad game as an OC. It's like he didn't even try the stuff that had worked against Ole Miss, like Guice and Fournette in the backfield together.

The UF game was a sickening fluke - the players just went brain dead inside the 20.

Well, Ensminger didn't want the OC job, so it's not like it was an either/or proposition.

"The offense looks like it doesn't have an identity". You sound upset about it but this is exactly what we want during a spring game.

It's a spring game that televised for everyone to see... they are not going to run the offense 100%. You don't want to just hand your scheme to BYU for week one.

The fact that our guys appeared to be able to line up and run a drive with tempo got me excited. It's still very early into Canada's tenure here. I can't wait for the fall

From all reports I've seen, they executed the play calls (formations, motions, etc) very well under a live game situation, with the QB live, and real SEC refs. That's pretty impressive.

Individual performances within that were lacking. Obviously the QB play; seems WRs too. Those do affect each other. RBs looked good.

I've always been a believer that the QB has to create plays regurlarly. That could mean pulling it down and running, throwing in a tight window, extending plays, or anything "non-planned". Without that you will always get drive killers: that one play where the OL folds, or WRs get covered, etc that puts you behind the chains and the punt is inevitable.

If you don't have that at QB, you have to create pre-snap. Either that or keep doing the same thing hoping for a different result. That pre-snap creation is Canada's adaptation to a lack of consistent play making QB. If they can execute it (which they just showed the ability to) it isn't "gimmicky" because it is necessary.

Look, I'll admit some of that stuff looked like over the top smoke and mirrors but I'll give the benefit of the doubt given Canada's track record.

Actually you are the idiot. Florida averaged giving up a mere 290 yards per game and was one of the best in the country. LSU gained 420 yards in that game which is a significant deviation from the mean. LSU "players" turned the ball over 3 times on the goal line and thats the only reason why the score wasn't something like 30-10.

So I think it's pretty obvious SE did a hell of a job and you proved you don't know shite about football.

And as I stated previously, unless you have dam near an all American QB and receivers that can go up and fight for the football, you can't beat BAMA. So all the idiots on this board using BAMA as the measuring stick for SE again prove they have no clue what they are talking about.

IN the "HISTORY' of LSU football, how many records did SE's offense break, with a less than average QB?

Yeah, all of the motion reminded me of Joe Gibbs' Redskins teams of the 80's.

I understand that. But I think his decision was based more on knowing that EO was going to go out and seek a significant change.

My argument was more about the system. And, IMO, how SE ran the offense was something I favored heavily and was just point out that with his system, and a few additional spread option plays and diversity, it would be a perfect offense for LSU.

I am concerned that Canada has had to rely heavily on "trickery" in the past and as we all know, the gimmicky type offenses have not held up over long periods of time in the SEC.
