One thing about baseball is I still require radio to get 90% of the games. As a 28-year old, I have heard nothing but JH call them. He makes mistakes, sure, he is human, but there is such an enjoyment and calming feel listening to him call a game. I will miss him.

It's not over for Jim Hawhthorne. He still has maybe 5 more baseball games to do, and there is football and basketball. But I get the gist, he is a class act all the way.

God bless Jim Hawthorne. I listen to the radio all the time. I grew up listening to John Ferguson. Then Jim arrived my senior year at LSU. If he has received some criticism on this site, none of it has ever been from me. They better pick a great replacement because he will have gigantic shoes to fill.

I'm 26 and all I've known for LSU baseball is Jim Hawthorne. Listened to many a game on the radio and am personally thankful for everything he has done/continues to do for the university.

I usually don't care for down votes because it's an easy, anonymous way to troll, but screw whoever has been down voting every post in this thread.

Dude has been a great tiger.

Thanks for you call against Memphis State in 1986 when Anthony Wilson hit that shot, Jim. That was a great moment and you did it justice.

I'm gonna really miss Hawthorne. He is the only voice of LSU I have ever known and wanted to listen to. I'll always remember all the incredible football and baseball moments. Other announcers I've listened to are just dull and never get excited no matter the circumstance. Hawthorne always made it exciting with almost every play and always got me pumped up for the games.

I have been listening to him all of his career at LSU and will miss him calling the games. It has been years since I have been able to catch one because of all the broadcast restrictions in place now, but when I did it was awesome. It brought back many fond memories.

Ill never forget listening to the radio as a young kid with dad and hearing the games called by him. I listen less now days because of more tv games, but hearing someone else on the call will be a shock to me. Thanks Jim.

Every time there is a great moment in tiger sports, I search the web for Jim's call of it. It just makes it more special.
