You do realize that Wilt played against NOBODY compared to Shaq, right? He damned well better have looked impressive to you.
Mr Russell, as Shaq respectfully called him, won 18362726 championships with the Celtics when the NBA only had 5 1/2 teams, but he was only 5-5 and along with Kareem was wilt's primary competition.
Of course I'm exaggerating above, but Russell was 6-9, MAYBE 270? Shaq had SEVENTY FIVE pounds on Wilt, and was every bit as quick and athletic, or even moreso? It's physics man. Shaq would've eaten him for lunch.
I also never saw Wilt dribble end to end and dunk, or dish for an assist like he was magic Johnson either.

To be clear, Wilt was a great passer. I'm talking dribbling coast to coast and dishing a dime like magic. Wilt never did that. Shaq, especially younger, did it multiple times.

but I would LOVE to see 1995 Hakeem attempt to handle 2000 Shaq. No way, no how would he or prime Wilt have a prayer.
Agree about Dream.
Man - Wilt could run and was a hell of a defensive shot blocker. He was also strong.

Love Shaq, went to LSU with him. Yes, he could do all those things, he just couldn’t shoot the ball.

Being a great basketball player is way behind the main reason I love Shaq. He is one hell of a good man.
This country would be so much better if we all carried ourselves like he does.

He was a great classmate too

We mostly agree. Wilt was athletic as can be. I believe he almost made the USA Olympic volleyball team one year.
I just think Shaq was every bit as athletic and had at least 75 pounds on him. Physics being what they are, I just don't see him holding his ground with Shaq. You can see game film of Shaq, and guys like Robinson are just bouncing off of him like a ping pong ball. Wilt and Robinson had similar builds. I wish there was a way to find out and put those two together in their primes.

I like him too. But he couldn’t dribble.
You don’t know anything prior to Lebron era and probably think he is better than MJ.
Shaq had great handles but if you knew anything, a big in the 90’s or early 2000’s was barely allowed to dribble. One year in today’s NBA and getting used to it, Shaq would have the best handle of any 7 footer in the league.
