Loved having the Auburn Band there last night. I had forgotten what it was like to have a band that plays in the stands. They were constantly playing and actually seemed to be having fun.

I agree whole heartedly with your assessment. I am a TGBFTL alum from the 80s when Linda was very new to the job. I'll admit, she was a HUGE BITCH most of the time, but we all still respected her to a degree. She knew what the frick she was doing, even at such a young age.
The band suffered during the mid 80s through early 90s after its longtime music arranger died, and a power struggle between the partiers (JUMAS, etc.) and the band's admin. They had to clean out the rowdy folks (I'll admit, I was one of those...
anyone remember Gainesville 86 & 88?)
After Linda started having a bit more creative control is when the band really started becoming one of the best in the nation, culminating in winning the Sudler Trophy and that ESPN/Raiders of the Lost Ark thing.
I never really liked Linda when I was in band, but I sure as hell respected her and everything she did for Tiger Band. Not only should she have been made Director of Bands, she should have been next in line as Dean of the School of Music & Dramatic Arts. She certainly had the CV to support such a position. Instead, after giving 25 years to LSU, she was shite on.

The half time shows are a snooze fest. Same crap every time. Broadway show tunes, latin show tunes. Please. There are times I hope Southern's band shows up instead.

Not really knowing anything about the LSU band, I was surprised when Morehouse wasn't promoted when Wicks retired.

Can we find a few more things to bitch about.
Lets start some threads about how the camel toes aren't as good on he golden girls any more. Maybe something about how the smell is not as good at LSU during pre-game tailgating.

I think it was something like she was made director of Tiger Band, but wanted more, didn't get it, and then bolted.

Linda Moorehouse was offered to be the head of the Tiger Band, but still be the #2 on the concert side. She wanted Wickes's job (#1 on both fronts), but LSU wouldn't give it to her, so she went to Illinois which offered her the job she wanted.
I feel like she probably should have been given that promotion, but I admit that Tiger Band was much more fun under Roy than under Moorehouse.

We were seated right beside them. They did seem to be having a blast, despite the rain and arse kicking.

you were sitting very close to me in the stands, then. I was in the row behind the band just offset to the right (when looking at the field).

It doesn't count if the show goes to the endzone. I meant for a normal show.
