TGBFTL is not the same

since Frank Wicks and Linda Morehouse left.
Not hiring Morehouse when Wicks retired was the worst mistake. Granted, the band in the stands and marching through LSU sounds fine. But the halftime displays are sorely lacking.
TGBFTL used to put on marvelous halftime shows. Now, we're lucky to get two songs. One usually has minimal moving formations and the second song usually has no movement while the Golden Girls dance.
This week was the exact same non-performance as last week, but inverted to the East Side from the West Side. I bet that took a lot of rehearsal.
Auburn's band put on a show like TGBFTL used to do weekly.
I know some of the responses I'll get here, and IDGAF. I'm a 20-year season ticket holder who has never left a game early, and has missed one home game. I went to tons of games growing up, and my father never missed a home game in 44 years before getting sick and passing away (there was actually an Advocate story on him several years ago). I love LSU football and love the band, but miss the band of old.

I agree. The first 2 years under Roy King, the band suffered both visually and audibly. They, for the most part, corrected both of these problems to some extent last year. This season, they just have to get over the director's obsession with lazy drill selection and marching off the field to "Hey Fightin' Tigers" at the end of seemingly every show.

I mean thanks for the bio but didn't have anything to do with the band not being good as you say.
Nb4 les miles has lost control of the band

That's because Auburn's band director was a graduate assistant under Moorehouse and Wickes

so you're saying the band was not solid last night?

Linda Moorehouse absolutely should have have gotten that job because she earned it. I went to High School with her and then to LSU where she was in Graduate school. She has dedicated her life to her trade and there are few who are better.
LSU made a huge mistake in this decision.

I wish the band did three songs each show like they did under Moorhouse. Not two songs then hey fighting tigers.

I too agree. The band has lost a step under the new leadership.
TGBFTL is the heart of LSU football tradition. I can't wait to see the Aggie band

completely agree.
Lines are sloppy now during pregame. Golden Girls have a bit more weight than Morehouse ever would have put up with. The entire performance is lack luster.

The coolest thing they did last year was march INTO the student section at the USCe game. I sit in the NEZ and that was cool to see. Wish they would do that again.

I guess some people are into bands. Not me.

A front's looked really good during pregame for a couple of years now which is really all that matters.

Linda was a special band director and I never fully understood her departure but it seemed like a mistake to me at the time. She was not only a perfectionist as far as band performance was concerned but a real student of the craft (her PhD focused on historical development of Japanese military bands). As intense as she was "on the field" she was very down-to-earth away from LSU.
I agree that the half time performances have declined in quality, but the band seems to be playing at a high level during almost every break...seems to be a significant increase from previous years.

I don't car what they do, but doing the same songs year after year is boring.
...now a Latin flare
...flight if the condor
...genji
...military salute
That's it

maybe this is why so many people leave at half time. The band is so bad that no one wants to hear it, so they leave
