A 3 game series with Texas...1 in Austin, 1 in Baton Rouge, the last game at Reliant in Houston.

A home and home with Notre Dame. ND's not what it used to be but South Bend is a great setting for fans to travel to. Also, playing ND guarantees national exposure.

home and home with USC. Everyone wants it to happen and LA is a great road trip for Tiger fans. Many could just fly into and stay in Las Vegas, just take buses to and from the game.

Definitely would get my vote!!!

I miss the A&M series, I'd love to have them on the schedule again.

sign or veto?

Veto. Then I'd have all the legislators murdered in order to avoid the possibility of an override. Putting Tulane permanently on our schedule on a home and home basis would replace our idiotic decision to sign a 10-year contract with them at the top of the list of the worst mistakes ever made by anyone at LSU.

yes to both

A&M is a great rivalry game that should be ressurected and would help recruit in Texas even more

Tulane is a bit of a filler opponent but they are in a better conference than our sunbelt fillers of many years, they are a historic rival, and I think it helps to have a regular presence in the biggest city (if it stays that way) in Louisiana

Schedule should be:
8 SEC foes
Tulane
2 00C BCS schools
1 cupcake

i know it gets said over and over, but with our conference slate i don't think playing more than one higher end BCS OOC school per year is a good idea.

this is especially true during the years when we have UGA or Tenn as one of our SEC-East opponents.

Right now, we have four teams in the top 15 on our schedule. I have not checked, but I'd be pretty shocked if too many BCS schools could say the same about their conference slate.

That four in the top 15 also doesn't include the fact that to play for the NC, we'd likely have to face another top 15 team in the SEC-C game.

On the original idea, yeah, I don't think it would be bad to go ahead and schedule regular series with A&M and Tulane, but with that we'd have to realize our other two foes would be Sun Belt, Mac or Wac, MWC or lower schools.

I am a LSU FAN.
I want to see LSU win CHAMPIONSHIPS.

I'd rather see the Tigers play great games against our top SEC Opponents during the season and in the SEC and National Championship games than face Texas in September. Period.

For the folks that are only looking for the entertainment value of great matchups (despite the fact it is not in the best interest of the program) I say stop 'wasting your money' paying to see LSU and Appy State, and just travel around the country to different games you think will be entertaining every week....USC-Ohio State, UCLA-Tennessee, Michigan-Notre Dame, etc. Buy two T-shirts, enjoy being "entertained" by the competitive matchup, and then just put on whichever shirt of the team that won and be their fan till the next week.

Even with the UArk/TAMU series at Jerryworld the next 10 years, I don't see that happening as long as Texass is around...Hogs & Horns really don't like each other.

I would definately veto. I don't want either of those teams permanantly.

Boy you know our OOC schedule sucks. This is like the 200,000th thread about this subject.
I'll be happy if we just play one OOC BCS school a year. Odds are that some years those schools will be up and some years they will be down.

FWIW, I wouldn't mind a 4-6 year rotating rivalry with Tulane, Texas A&M, FSU and Notre Dame.

As for warm ups and Div 1AA schools, I say play an in state school so we can keep that rent-a-win money in state.

8 SEC
1 OOC BCS
1 Rivalry
2 Cupcakes

Nuts, you're just a dirty whore. What is it about the tradition of night games that is so attractive, as opposed the longer-standing tradition of playing Tulane?

LSU/Tulane forever.

I would sign.

However, I would also sign for:

Virginia Tech
Texas
Navy
Army
Florida State
Clemson
Baylor
Michigan
Notre Dame
Boston College
OU
Pitt
Washington
USC
UCLA
Air Force
Rutgers
Penn State
Indiana
UVA

Find a team like A&M that we have a historical connection with, a team like Notre Dame or Boston College that we have a cultural connection with, or a team like Army or Navy that we have a military connection with. If nothing else, a big market team that would help with exposure or a regional team that could generate interest is better than what we have now.

This is not true. I'm actually relatively clean.

Tradition solely for tradition's sake is not a good thing. Bad traditions aren't any better just because they're traditions. Playing Tulane is bad for LSU, period. Whoever at LSU committed us to playing them for this ten-year contract was quite simply working against the best interests of LSU. If said person was receiving a paycheck from LSU at the time, they should refund the entire amount or be prosecuted for theft by fraud.

And, temporarily suspending the constitutional prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment, they should be forced to attend and sit through every last second of every Tulane football game from now until the program inevitably folds (which might have happened by now if we hadn't signed that stupid contract).

Plus, LSU's variety over the last 10 years is not spicy enough for me. A&M's band, however, is.

You want to put Texas A&M permanently on the schedule for their band? Weird.

A&M's band is pretty awesome. i will give it up to them for that, halftime show only, during the game theyre as annoying as any college band that isnt yours

for some reason, A&M wants yall on the schedule too, according to some of their message board fans. not sure why.

they do enjoy a good beating.......i hope my boys will quit fricking about this year when we take the field

I veto, but make it clear that I'll sign if the ratio of Tulane games is changed to 7:3 Tiger Stadium:Superdome. I'm all for helping the Greenies' program, but half and half home and away is just leaving too much money on the table.

I would also ask for a rider stating that we don't play any other in-state schools unless they move to a BCS conference or at least make a bowl.

FWIW, that's about the ratio of LSU tickets to Tulane tickets at the LSU/Tulane games in the Superdome in the current contract.

Playing Tulane last year got LSU a win. Good thing we played and beat Tulane that day. Had we just sat at home and not played Tulane, we would not have won the national title.

Thank God for the Tulane game. May God smite Nuts4LSU, for he is to be smitten.
