From Dandy Don:

quote:

The third tight end Orgeron mentioned is the one that caught us off guard. It wasn’t Nick Storz, Devonte Lee or Aaron Moffitt. Instead, it was a sophomore walk-on who most of you probably didn’t even know was on the team. “Watch out for a young man by the name of Jack Mashburn,” Orgeron said. “He’s a walk-on from St. Pauls in Covington and I think this guy is gonna have a great career for us.”

Watched him during Spring game start at TE on purple team. I pull for underdogs, and this kid as walkon is on impressive journey. Geaux, Tigers!

Every champion team has a walk on that sets the tone for work ethic and commitment. Attaboy Jack !

Moreau was a 3-star with incredible physical gifts, so that's likely a very bad comparison.

I hope he continues to improve.
TE is the weakest position on the team right now.

I think he’s a former QB in high school, so likely has good athleticism for the position. Anyone have updated accurate size info? Memory is he’s around 6’2” but maybe only weighed around 200-210 when he got to campus.

LSU shows Mashburn at 6' 2" and 218
Devonta Lee at 6"2" and 224
Storz 6' 2" 215

All this worry about TE is unwarranted. A good OC will design plays around the skills of the TE's we have on campus. I think with Bech, Lee and Mashburn we will see a dynamic down field TE passing attack. They don't need to be the best blockers. We have two big blocking TE's in Taylor and Stortz who can also catch, both are at least 6'5" and 250.

He was a QB in high school for some point of his career. He is a high IQ guy that runs great routes. Obviously, he is a heck of an athlete.
Lastly, he comes from a good family. Congrats to him on making an impression.

Storz is a lot bigger than 6’2” 215. Try 6’5 250.

He won’t have as big an impact as Bech starting out. They’ve already got packages in place for him.

All that size doesn’t mean anything if you can’t play ball. I’d love to see this kid make an impact.

This is correct. Good hands and watched his route running, footwork, and blocking during Spring game. All look the part.

Roster hasnt been updated yet for 2021, they report to fall camp and it usually gets updated within days of that.

Srotz is listed at 6'5, 260 though on the current roster, so not sure where you see 6'2, 215...that's for Bech who is in the 225 range right now.
