I agree, why? Findley has awesome talent. He just needs, IMO, some good coaching and repetitions.
He was in competition with a player with years of training and two coaches sons.
I hope he goes out of conference so we won't have to face him in a couple of years.

Im not surprised. TJ has plenty of talent and upside. Some people on here fail to realize that and never really gave him a shot from the day he signed. The kid did pretty damn well for the hand he was dealt as a true freshman quarterback coming in with all the Covid distractions/practice guidelines. Jimbo and Mullen will get the most out of him.
I mean give it a couple years he could be the next Trask with a bigger arm. I also think TAMU's offense would do him well.

If anybody saw Kellen Mond and Feleipe Franks as freshman and then as seniors, it's easy to see what either coach can do for Finley.

IMO he is too slow for SEC play and is not accurate enough.
Kyle Trask was also "too slow". Mond and Franks were also not "accurate enough". You morons with this dumbass take on young QBs kill me.

This is 100% true. But, the LSU fanbase here is mostly about instant success. If the QB doesn't perform at a Joe Burrow level, lets look at the next Freshman coming in.

Of course, other factors were also at play.

Can anyone explain to me how allowing him to start the first 5 games over Max means he wasn’t given a fair shot? Anyone? I’m truly interested in this thought process.

My guess is that he will beat the competition because he is great at practice. Then he will start and they will find out he is a much better QB at practice than in a game. A lot of kids are this way. BUT, I hope he does great and proves to be a winner (unless he plays against LSU).

You mean things like no spring practice, no summer work, limited contact with receivers/offensive coaches, etc etc right?

Couple that with the usual freshman QB things like late decision making, poor accuracy, understanding of the gameplan along with speed of the game.

His on field production. Figured he could go somewhere along the likes of ULL or LaTech and start immediately, get a full year starting under his belt, and then transfer to a bigger Power 5 school

He would have to sit out a year behind Levi Lewis before he got a chance to start at UL

Pretty sure we wouldn't allow transfer to teams we play every year. I think that's the norm.

He said when interviewed a couple of weeks ago he’s waiting for the SEC to vote on transfers between SEC schools. Their supposed to vote in early June whether they are going to do away with the rule about whether athletes have to sit out one year if they transfer between schools.

Would be great news for LSU if he goes to a team LSU plays every year.

You didn't understand the point. He stated Finley isn't accurate enough for SEC play. The same thing Mond and Franks got railed on early in their careers. Both improved yearly. Mond started his career with 51.5% cmp and 6.1 ypa and finished his career at 63.3% cmp and 7.7 ypa. He then was the MVP at the senior bowl, and was a 4th round pick.

Franks started his career at 54.6% cmp on 6.3 ypa. He finished his career on a new team at 68.5% on 8.9 ypa. His QB rating went from 113.13 to 163.07. While he went undrafted, he has a legit chance to possibly take over for Matt Ryan if adapts well to the coaching there. He has all the physical tools to succeed and improved his mental game through 3+ years of play.

Just like Burrow. His transformation from year one to year two was insane. His year one numbers are barely better than these guys and he was a 3rd year junior while they were freshman.

He got beat out and more than had his chance. He could stay and develop, but that was his decision.

Finley has great upside once he gets the mental mistakes taken care of. People on here have said he isn't accurate, can't read defenses, and that he moves about badly in the pocket with his footwork being bad. Also, he can't run or is slow which I think is not true because he can run well for his size. I don't think any of that is true because he showed in games last season that he can avoid the pass rush and move about, it's the last 3 games he took a beating in against Alabama, Auburn, and A&M. Teams with good defenses that had really good pass rushes against a bad LSU OLine. But you give this kid time and he can find open receivers and move the ball, his problem right now is staring down a receiver too long and throwing an INT.
