Guess last week @ MSU doesnt count for crap does it. Where the hell do some of you people come from.
Did you even bother to read what I said? No hits with runners in scoring position.
He had two solo homers against MSU, in a blowout. Does that sound like clutch hitting to you? Are you familiar with the difference between hitting, and hitting in the clutch? Was my post not clearly and specifically about hitting in the clutch?
you want to know where people like me come from? Reality. Some of you lose your minds when anyone points out a fact that doesn't blow sunshine up our players' butts. Have you watched Duplantis since the beginning of the Texas series, with runners in scoring position? He seems to almost ALWAYS have a couple of guys on when he bats, and he has consistently either popped up, rolled it over, or struck out. If you haven't noticed that, then you have no right to try to call me out.

?? Lacy threw 114 pitches. And to his credit, his last few pitches were still 95 and 96.

So all the same things every player does about 2/3 of the time?

Do most hitters, especially those who are put in the top of the lineup, go 1 or 2 for 30 something with runners in scoring position? No, they don't. It's not normal at all. But if they do, you can bet it will be brought up. If you don't like it, I really don't care. This is a baseball discussion.

ETA: Duplantis leads the team in RBI so he must be getting at least SOME hits with runners in scoring position.

I said since the Texas series began he has been horrible with runners in scoring position. Please try to keep up.
Duplantis has USUALLY been clutch in his career. This entire point I've been making is about how bad he's been in the clutch since the Texas series. You and Two other people are defending him on the grounds that he's a good hitter, and refusing to acknowledge the point I'm making is about NOW.
Is it possible to say someone is struggling mightily to drive in runs, while not indicting their entire career as being awful?

Did they not show a stat Friday or Saturday that in the past 8-10 games Duplantis was hitting .430 or some shite like that?
Pretty sure it was Friday night..

Boo, they did show a stat Friday that showed Duplantis had been hitting .430 the past 8-10 games.
Notice he disappeared because he couldn’t provide a link
People are idiots, we have probably played the toughest conference schedule to date, and we are tied for first in the West and people will still bitch.

I just went back to the game box scores for every game since the Texas series. By my count Dups has had 14 RBI since the Texas series or 22 games.

This can't be stated enough. As the schedule lightens a bit, I'm hoping that we can continue to gain some confidence with some good performances.

My biggest fear is playing down to competition

I think you have to hope that veterans like Duplantis, Reid, Watson, Hess, Broussard and Smith won't let that happen.

There is NO link that I could find, anywhere, that shows individual batting averages with runners in scoring position. In fact, I don't even see team batting average w/RISP. It's easy to find those stats in MLB.
But, I knew that he was struggling mightily w/RISP, because I simply pay attention and remember most of what he's been doing over the last 25 games. And since you and your friends are laughing it up about what an "idiot" you all think I am for saying this, I had to go through every box score over the last 25 games, beginning with the first game of the Texas series, and had to look through every single play-by-play log and read through it to see which times he batted with runners in scoring position, and what he did.
Here are the results, game by game:
Texas 0-2, 2k's
Texas 1-1
Texas 0-1
Holy Cross 0-1
Cal 0-2, 1k
Cal 0-0
Cal 0-1
Northwestern St. 0-1, 1k
Texas Southern 2-4
Kentucky 1-4, 1k
Kentucky 0-3
Kentucky 1-2
Nicholls 0-1
Georgia 0-0
Georgia 0-1
Georgia 0-1, 1k
Mcneese St. 0-1
Miss St. 0-1
Miss St. 0-1, 1k
Miss St. 0-0
Grambling 0-1, 1k
South Alabama 1-1
Texas A&M 0-0
Texas A&M 0-2, 1k
Texas A&M 1-3, 1k
That amounts to 7-35, with 10 k's w/RISP in the last 25 games. He was impossibly hot to start the year, with 23 RBI in the first 8 games. You knew he couldn't stay THAT hot. I don't know who could. But he's had all of 11 RBI in the last 25 games.
Consider the amounts of at bats he's had with two of the best hitters in the league hitting in front of him, and Cabrera (most of the year) hitting right behind him for protection. Also consider that even some bad hitters have better averages w/RISP than their overall average, simply due to the amount of times they bat with the infield in when there is a runner at third with less than two outs, and the fact that you can hit a medium depth fly ball and drive in a run while not being charged an at bat.
I can't imagine how I can make this case any more strong. He has struggled mightily, even though he actually has 3 or 4 more hits w/RISP than I remembered, after going back through all of the games.

Metal octopus, thanks. Nice post. You did a lot of work there.
Unfortunately, it was to prove a point that Dups has sucked lately, so enjoy the incoming downvotes.

Melting? I'm not even talking about the team. I mentioned that I was getting tired of Duplantis batting in with runners in scoring position, considering his struggles over the last 25 games in those situations (see my above post, if you don't believe me). That was a comment I made after he and Watson both struck out in the 9th with runners at second and third, in the 6-4 loss, and people have been arguing with me since then.
You're exaggerating it to seem like I came in here after we won the series and just randomly starting complaining about something.

I appreciate it. And you're probably right.
I didn't really enjoy having to prove said point, because outside of this current stretch, Duplantis has been as clutch as you could hope for in his career. But I know what I've been seeing, and to have people sit there and call me an idiot for saying he's struggled with runners in scoring position? I can't let people get away with that.

As I just told Russian, there is no link to those stats, and so I had to go through every play-by-play log to chart his at bats with runners in scoring position. That's not something you do in 5 minutes. You can read the stats I posted for Russian. Not so idiotic, after all, right?
And I'm not complaining about the team. Again, I mentioned Dups' struggles w/RISP after he and Watson struck out in the 9th in game 1 of the doubleheader. It was a FACT that was relevant to the situation. Being in first place doesn't mean you can't point out a fact.
