Talent disparity between LSU and UCLA

LSU has had top 5 recruiting classes the last 3 seasons. UCLA hasn’t even had a top 25 recruiting class the last 3 seasons. Based solely on talent, LSU should have won convincingly.

Doesn’t matter what talent you have if you can’t coach or develop them.

Talent gap or not, I sure would like to have Charbonnet for our workhorse back.

You have to factor in the talent gap of the coaching staff

That’s one of the most disturbing things, seeing both teams prior to game in uniform it was noticeable how much bigger a ball club and average player we had only to then get pushed around on that same field.

I Know it’s a big no no to do, but I just can’t help but imagine what Bama would do to UCLA. We should have done the same based on talent.

DL no
Now some of it is coaching. How much? Probably a lot, but at certain positions we lack talent.

To be fair we didn’t look all that much more talented. Our WRs looked like a physical mismatch maybe but we couldn’t get the ball to them or they dropped the ball in crucial situations.

We have skill position talent but have largely struggled on the OL and DL

LSU doesn’t have near the talent Alabama does especially on the lines

Chip Kelly was simply the better Coach with less talent and exploited O and his short comings.

Just a lot of soft players because there coddled as players instead of getting men to hit and play football

At the end of the day, it all falls on the head coaches shoulders. Give Coach O credit for winning a National Championship but also place blame on him for not having his team ready to play.
