It's easy to write him off as being terrible given this season. But it's hard to ignore that he did a pretty good job last year with a roster put together with duct tape.

I don't know enough about his past and how respected he is within coaching circles.

Are you 100% sold on him needing to go?

Or is it possible that he really is just playing with young recruits / less-talented transfers and could turn it around as he gets more of "his guys"?

It's like he's making a gumbo with some really bad ingredients and very subpar helpers.

He is trying his best but if he doesn't make some adjustments on the ingredients he is given then it's going to turn out really bad.

So far the gumbo isn't looking very good.

It’s not scheme. You have a HS Coach, a coach currently on medical leave that won’t be back, and a glorified GA as your position coaches. Technique is seriously lacking. Also, none of these position guys have produced on the recruiting trail.

Need I go on?

He’s solid. Did a solid job last year.
Not sure what’s going on this year.
His secondary is so weak especially with brooks out. But he needs to keep improving this defense
No reason to panic.

We have issues in scheme, fundamentals and effort. Some of that is on the players, but I think coaches are responsible for motivating and teaching players. Coaches are supposed to get the best out of their players. For whatever reason, that is not happening.

I think he is forced to play a soft zone because the DBs are so poorly coached and it’s impossible for them to play man.

The lack of ability to tackle makes his scheme seem worse than it actually is.

I think his a decent DC, with several players that shouldn’t sniff an SEC roster

It looks like the players "some times" aren't playing hard... That concerns me. I'll leave the hiring and firing up to Kelly. He sees House every day. It's Kelly's call.

He's defence should be described as "The Outhouse Defense". Because it stinks like S............................

I don't think he was asking if you're going to personally fire House.

The fact that he had our 2 most talented guys playing out of position should tell you everything. He had Smith on the nose which was totally ineffective, Jenkins comes in and moves him and the first game he makes plays. Of course we all know the total failure with Perkins role as well. House needs to go or he’ll be an albatross around Kelly’s neck until he does.

It's always a lazy knee-jerk reaction to blame the coaches, but sometimes it actually is the coaches.

I'm not going to say they are not without fault, but I think this is mostly a personnel issue.

Many of the problems we are seeing were discussed, by local and national observers, as being potential issues.

Mostly, our DBs are terrible. This causes a chain reaction.

I don't think the poor play of the DL was expected, though.

Maybe Lindsey's absence has played a role?

I always have a hard time believing good coaches just "forgot" how to coach. But they can make bad decisions, and sometimes it's a chemistry issue.

Short answer: I don't know

It’s pretty simple, we used the Walmart brand duct tape this year.

He got the Honey Badger’s endorsement which was good enough for me, maybe that’s changed since this season but probably not.

Nah, DB coach & some other staff changes need to be made, but he may get another chance if we keep winning games.

I wouldn’t mind him sticking around if we can bring in some guys the fans would be happy with:
Jason Taylor, DL coach
Kelvin Sheppard, LB coach
Chevis Jackson, DB coach

we have literally one of the worst defenses in all of FBS and we are not recruiting to fix this next year. We'll be 3 straight years of portal players. LSU has to do better recruiting HS players and developing them

Kelly said that Jenkins was working only on technique and tackling and had no role or input on strategy, personnel or positions.

Could Kelly be lying? Possible, but I see no reason why he would.

So, your comment appears wrong.

Went back and watched the game. First 3 drives they abused our man to man coverage.

Perkins interception was the first play we switched to zone.

I wish we could play lot less softer zone and get pressure. But it was obvious that they burned us in man coverage

I don't know if you've been watching Smith but until this week he's looked terrible no matter where he's been lined up. Maybe he's still injured idk but to say House hasn't had him lined up at end is a lie.

Perkins is a hard guy to figure out where to put. He's a great passrusher but you can't just put him on the edge all game because they will run right at him. He's not a stack backer either. I think the coaches have actually done a good job and adjusted on what to do with him instead of having him standing on sidelines until a passing sitiation.

His scheme this year is likely dictated by his lack of talent in the secondary. You can blame D line play on not having a full time coach but the personnel decisions and having M Smith playing over the Center should be things he could fix. Like he should have fixed them after FSU. Same with getting Weeks on the field sooner. Same with playing Swinson and Womack a lot more.

I’m not sure what is going on with those Assistants and House but it’s ultimately on House to set playing time and personnel. His blitzes are remedial. I think LSU can do better at DC and every position coach.

I’ll give him a pass on the secondary. It’s the island of misfit toys back there, and they lost their best player after 1 game. They consistently give up contested catches in man coverage so it’s tough to just throw them out there in press man. But the real inexcusable thing to me is the linebackers. He’s the LB coach. He’s got 2 returning LBs (Perkins and Penn) and a former all Pac 12 LB who have all looked totally lost in zone coverage. Perkins obviously played 100x better this weekend, but Penn and Speights dropping straight back and covering no one over and over again is just baffling.

The DL is disappointing but I can’t put that on House. It just is what it is.

Better DL play would mask some of the zone issues. Better secondary play would allow more blitzes. His hands are sort of tied there. But the LB play is inexcusable

This sounds awesome but what's the reality of getting these guys?

Chevis coming over from Marshall is 100% a posibility.

Sheppard is also an alum but he's currently getting it done in the NFL with a team that's on the rise. Not sure he leaves for the same position in college.

Taylor would be a home run pick up and I think it's possible. But he has no affiliation to the school and it's not like coaching at Miami is a G5 gig. He seems the most unluckily to land.

This is all pure speculation as well since who knows how Kelly makes his staffing hires. Seems like a guy who could give a shite about bringing guys back that have a connection to the university.
