if this is what the student section looks like at kickoff.

The students are a great part of the Tiger Stadium atmosphere. However, when large sections are missing, don't think TAF doesn't see that.

I know this topic has been discussed ad-nauseum, but I'm going to get my $0.02 in.

Admins, anchor away if you want to.

In a world full of student attendance threads.. I agree with this point. It should be done. Is this actually happening or is it your opinion?

But students gots to tailgate. Those 7 afternoons are the only times in the entire school year that they have a chance to find an alcoholic beverage. They can't be expected to be in their seats in time for kickoff when there are so many games of beer pong that have to be finished.

I didn't realize that 235 and 236 were part of the student section, but those two sections are easily the worst. They're always more than half empty.

it eventually filled up, but by the end of the game it was empty again

No, it didn't. The rest around it filled in, but that particularly little section remained mostly empty.

We scan tickets now, so LSU knows how many are in the stadium. Any reason they couldn't sell SRO tickets? That would accomplish:

More $ for LSU
Full stands
People who can't afford season tickets get a chance to go see the games.

While I agree this section always stands out, it's mainly because the students pack in the lower sections and leave these empty. People don't like to sit next to the older season ticket holders next to there because they bitch and moan. But if they are going to never use it, take it away. They need to move the Greek tickets from the sideline to the end zone and sell those if they really need the money.

This is just a guess on my part, but I think the students are attending. They're just cramming themselves into the sections closer to the west sideline. I remember when I was a student there were always people sitting in the aisles closer to the band. Maybe that's not happening, and they're just not showing up, but my guess is the actual number of students attending is more than what you'd think it is based on that picture.

When I was a student late 90s, the greek sections came late, left early every game. I never understood this.

Ive always thought there were too many student seats (14,700). AD needs to keep demand high. When something is limited like that students will fill it up

I have a couple of tickets in the North endzone that I sometimes sell. It's usually to students who go and sit over in the student section

I thought that section, which is generally always empty outside of big games, was reserved for high school coaches throughout the state. Feel like I've read that somewhere before.

TDGAF will be feeling the pain soon enough when the stadium expands, demand shrinks as supplies rise and several fans realize they needn't pay TDGAF and LSU fees to attend only the good games and stop paying crazy money for Furman and Towson.

Yes...when Dinardo was coaching. Since Saban arrived, high school coaches are in the upper deck.

The argument that many students cram into the lower levels, and that leaves a empty section up top may be true for some games, but that wasn't the case last Saturday. The student section, other than the very bottom, was sparse all the way until about the time the Tigers came out onto the field immediately prior to openeing kickoff. Even after everyone arrived, there was plenty of space in the student section. You didn't have 25 people crammed onto a row that holds 20 seats like you sometimes do get. It was more like 16-17 people for a row of 20 seats.

That's an awful lot of high school coaches who don't want to come to the game for free! Actually I think I heard something similar but doubt it's that many seats. That's gotta be 400 or 500 empty seats or more.

There is already a system in place to track student attendance. You get points for showing up and thats gets you better priority for the following year.

I do like that the picture was taken before the band sat down to exaggerate the emptyness though

Completely remove student tickets. Make the students go through the process of getting tickets like everyone else. That way they have to actually work for it, and the ones who do get tickets will go to the game. Mo money, mo problems.
