So, as long as we're just a little better than the worst, everyone should be happy about it?

Most of the posters on this site are kids, it's obvious. They want to make impulsive decisions and they think that they will pan out without any tough times lol. Then, once that doesn't work out for them after 1 season the way they would like, they will want to make another impulsive and stupid decision...etc. It really is funny at times, but it gets really annoying too.

Should I post the definition again, or will that one time suffice?

Because it’s a message board?

What’s the point of you coming here and reading it?

Like hiring Orgeron the day after Herman asked for more money? That kind of impulsive decision? I think most of the posters calling for Orgeron's head were staunchly against that impulsive decision and wanted a full coaching search.

Couple things:

Coaching & recruiting are two distinct disciplines.

I like Aranda as a defensive coach. He has great attention to detail which allows him to scheme to different teams accordingly.

Recruiting doesn't have a lot to do with being taken seriously vs convincing the parents/guardians that their kid is in good hands and letting the kid know that this is the best place to develop his skills. Also, have to be EXTREMELY hospitable (I.e. fake laughs, eating badly cooked food, etc.) Don't know if Aranda is quite cut for this yet.

Yeah, but it's true.

I would tell them there was a 45 year span between 2003 and the previous title- but I don't want to cause another Jonestown (Google it, if needed). :rimshot:

There's not. I come here to try to get the news of the day. Instead, I see the same recycled threads and arguments and bitching. This board hasn't changed in months. Kind of a shame that I have to go to the secrant to attempt to have a civilized discussion. But the precedent established by the children on this board has dictated that if you aren't screaming and crying then you will get downvoted and/or are an O apologist. I was against the Orgeron hire, am still against the hire, but, like you said, also know there's nothing I can do about the fact he will be the head coach come September. So what would be a better use of my time? Bitching day after day after day, or maybe find something else to do until football season and then hope things work out. If they do work out great. If they don't work out, he'll be fired. A lot of people would probably serve themselves well if they took a break. But you're 100% right. This board has become an embarrassment. I live in Nashville. I can assure you LSU is not viewed as an embarrassment outside of Louisiana.

Thank you. I don't know if CEO is going to do well. I sincerely hope he does. But if he doesn't, fire him.

In the meantime, CEO is the HC. LSU is prepping for spring football and getting ready to play Miami on Sep. 2.

As a parent if my kid was highly touted I don't know that fake laughs would suffice. I would prefer a straight shooter with obvious intelligence and the coaching wits to teach my son. Being an introvert myself I've learned the skills that don't necessarily come natural to me. You can learn small talk but you can't fix stupid.
Not knowing if Aranda is cut out for small talk is 1000 times less of a gamble than giving the head job to a proven loser.

It's more than just small talk unless you've been recruited or have been on the trail, it's a hard thing to understand in total.

You're letting your disdain for CEO dictate your narrative in regards to his recruiting ability.

The jury is still out on CEO as a HC, but he's an exceptional recruiter and very knowledgeable about football both at the collegiate and professional level.

USC had the #4 ranked class.

quote:

“Eric Ziskin is the mastermind of this operation,” Rios said. A few years younger, they both swear by what they learned from current LSU coach Ed Orgeron and are passionate about working for Helton.

Well you see, a discussion about LSU Athletics on the rant is truly a far cry from an actual adult discussion. Over the past years I’ve learned this and that’s why I visit this page for entertainment purposes only.
