Nope...this was an abysmal hire, who has now made an abysmal hire for OC (nothing personal against Ensminger, but his name should have been nowhere near the list of potential Canada replacements) and pretending everything is fine only emboldens those who make decisions.

I think you're reaching a little. I don't think anyone realistically thinks this. However, it is conceivable that Aranda would continue to oversee the defense with possibly a Corey Raymond type figure as DC. This would more than likely mean that the defense would sustain the level of play in the past couple of years.
The difference with having Aranda as head coach is that he's not a bumbling fool (like the last coach and current coach) and his intellect alone would be enough to think that he would make good hiring decisions and be taken seriously on the recruiting trail. I mean how could anyone not take that mother fricker seriously?
