The OLINE was being asked to block guys who knew exactly where the ball was going. That's how well prepped BAMA's defense was. Urban and OSU, Cam Newton and Malzhan raped Saban and Kirby because their defense was not allowed to rotate, and had to defend the whole field. Our line is just s good s OSU last year and Auburn's in 2010. We just don't have a good offensive philosophy against Kirby nd Saban

I'm sorry I find it hard to believe a team with the talent of LSU can't have multiple options for success. Especially with 2 weeks of prep.. not to be able to run more formations..

But I do agree that LSU was beat on the line by the more powerful team

Are you retarded?

I was referencing Saban adjusting his offense, like hiring LK and allowing different packages to be run, you jackwagon!

You can't be this dumb, really?

I am not a coach but I have and do watch a lot of football. Most of the ex NFL announcers talk about running screens and other plays to slow down the rush. I did not see us do this with any success. My seat was really low and when we had the ball around our own 10 to 20 yard line, it was hard to believe how fast their line rushed the QB.

I had no doubt that Coach Saban would have a game plan to stop LF--and he did, but we keep on run, run, pass.

It is getting a little embarrassing to be dominated so often and lose so regularly.

so now we can trust T-Bob's words? i could swear some on here was saying he was butthurt after 1/9/12, that he was delusional, and his daddy was a drunk.

What if it was Rueben Randle or Blackwell that penned this article, would the message still be received the same?

For the record, what he says makes sense and is understandable. There's a huge double standard for former players and what they say, though.

Right. Coaches make the players themselves get overpowered on the line. Puts the OL in spots to get pushed back 3 yards a play.

Jesus you're a moron and aren't even addressing the topic at hand.
When you're down multiple possessions, can't run the ball, and can't hold pass protection long you need quick, effective, high percentage pass plays. I don't feel like spelling it out, but hopefully you have some type of brain power to figure out why those types of plays would be effective.

Yes, the offensive line was nowhere near as good as Bama's D-line, but to say a coach can't gameplan to help them out... you're a fricking idiot

Pretty obvious that both our Oline and Dline were dominated. But it also appears that to beat hammer, we have to spread the offense. That's almost always the case with them, so it seems like coaches should be aware that last night's plan would not likely succeed. However, if Qb can't make short quick passes, and the Oline can't block their dine, then what CAN coaches do?

My biggest gripe with Miles has always been his OL play/recruiting. He's supposed to be an OL guy and while they've been consistently good, they have never been consistently dominant. For Miles system to win championships that unit has to be dominant and he has not produced that. IMO Les thinks he's better at recruiting, developing, coaching and inspiring dominant OL play on a consistent basis than he actually is. While I agree with T Bob's analysis it still begins with Miles. It will continue to produce 10-2 seasons at best with 11-1 and 7-5 sprinkled in.

Throughout Saturday’s game, all the various social media feeds I am required to watch were inundated with “LES MILES SUCKS” and “TERRIBLE PLAY CALLING” themed messages. While this isn’t a surprise, I find it frustrating, as I feel these comments completely miss the point as to why LSU got dominated offensively. LSU didn’t lose because of their game plan. They lost because they got DOMINATED up front. You can’t suddenly change your offense in the middle of a season. A power running team doesn’t wake up one day and suddenly decide they are going to run the spread. LSU’s offensive success is predicated on running the ball successfully in order to set up big plays in the passing game. In order to run the ball successfully, the offensive line has to be able to open some holes, something that they were completely unable to do in this game. LSU’s passing attack could have perhaps made some plays - however the pass blocking wasn’t much better either as the line gave up multiple sacks and pressures throughout the night. Coming into the game, we said the offensive line was the X-factor as far as deciding the outcome of this game and that proved to be true. Unfortunately for LSU fans, it was the offensive line’s exceedingly poor play that led to the loss.

Well T-Bob, this is the 2nd time in 4 years that we got completely manhandled upfront...

It has to be a coaching issue or a talent issue or both

But the Head Coach gets the sword my friend...

4 years is a long time...

You have to have a back up plan in terms of helping your team get the animals on their heals versus an intense rush where the OL feels overwhelmed in the game.

Smart Scheme=keep the defense off balance

Alabama knew what we were doing before the snap just like 1/9/2012

I would call it a conspiracy if all the fans didn't know either.

It's called we're predictable
Les Miles is predictable
he thinks he can run over Alabama...which is laughable with their talent...

No screens
No TE passes
No short routes
No RB completed passes

WE had Alabama off balance in the 2nd QTR...by passing the football

I do admit, I basically drank the memory of that game away, but I don't remember running outside except for when Fournette bounced it outside himself.

How many people in the media said our OL was the best in the country?

They said the same about Alabama's front 7

I guess Les Miles know which is most important in winning big games

I agree about the O-line, but over the the last five years, LSU and sandcastles have a lot in common - they both look good till the TIDE rolls in!!

T-Bob gets it. Its the OL people! They just got dominated and were not mentally and physically prepared to deal with what they were facing with. More so mental IMHO. Nothing seriously wrong with our D. They have weaknesses like all units. But that is not why we lost. TOP stats tells it all

Fournette knew it, too. You could see it in his eyes.

You can't change style mid season, so there has to be some systemic change to the offense. I'm not saying get away from power running game. But, adding the capability of adjusting to a team like Bama to keep them honest is essential.

When the defense can match a hat on a hat and then fill the gaps with other defenders, there will be problems. Other teams that try this get run the hell over by LSU. Bama is just as strong though. There have to be plays in the playbook in that formation that make Bama account for something other than "give the ball to 7." When they know what's coming, they'll stop anybody. With any other team, LSU outmans the defense. Bama is too strong to do that.

I am really surprised that Les doesn't utilize the tight end more being that he is as old school as he is.

I can't take T-Bob seriously. He's too full of excuses for coaching shortcomings. He comes across as a "company man"

Solid analysis my arse. Lots of fans and former players have been saying for years we need to make changes in the off season...not in the middle of the year. He should've known more than anyone how tough it is to run on Bama.

Single back, 4 wide

You cannot let Bama sit in their base package, period!

Ole miss moved it on Bama by doing that. You HAVE to use the blueprint given to you by them. Arkansas moved it the same way as did UT.

Why the frick would we not do the same? Are ALL of those teams OL better than ours? NO WAY!

Saban knows Les won't ever change his plan. And he owns us with that plan as our strategy.

It is not finicky. It is disappointment in LSU coming up short yet again when the real test comes. The O-line failed. It struggled frequently with teams like EMU that was destroyed by Toledo. Toledo. Let that sink in for a moment. It is not nearly so good as advertised and last night proved it. If you are happy with losing to Saban, so be it.

LF7 had no place to run because the Bama defensive line stayed in the LSU backfield all night. Again, CLM did not see it coming. Is he just purblind. It was 1/9 2.0.

So it is his team, his staff an his game plan which is now 3-7 against Saban. That spells unmitigated failure in my book, but be happy cuz he is a nice guy who can laugh when he is getting his head handed to him...again.
